Chapter 1 -- (Summer)
The woman clenched her clip board close to her chest as she watched me look around the lofty apartment. It was empty. It was spacious. The view of the city was breath taking. This…was home. I turned around with excitement and smiled at her. “I love it! Thank you so much!”
The woman smiled with satisfaction. “Excellent. If there is anything you think you might need as you move in today, please don’t hesitate to ask.”
I walked up to her with my hand extended to give her a handshake making the deal final. “Thank you, and we will.”
The woman’s smile slowly faded as she looked at me with a confused expression. “We?”
I forgot I had told the woman that I was going to be a single tenant in this apartment. “Oh…my twin sister, Autumn. I decided at the last minute that she could move in with me. It’s a long story…I hope that’s okay?” I finished win an unsure tone.
The woman smiled. “Oh, you’re a twin?”
I nodded yes.
“Well, since you signed the lease as a single person, we can’t let the other tenants know. You see this floor of the building has to stick to the single family demographic. Visitors are fine, but please don’t let the other tenants on this floor know that your sister is living with you. So…your secret is safe with me.”
“Oh, Im sorry…I didn’t know those were the rules. But thank you so much!”
The woman turned to leave and stopped as she looked back at me with a smile and open arms. “Welcome to New York.”
------------
I brushed my hair allowing it to flow swiftly around my shoulders, and giving it volume as I fluffed it. I stared at myself in the mirror to make sure there were no flaws with my makeup and clothes. I had to admit, I looked hot. I wore a black, low neck jersey top and black leggings. I made sure my charm silver necklace hung just right around my neck. That’s when I heard my twin sister come into the room.
“You look fine. You’re beautiful.” she said.
I smiled as I looked at her thru the mirror’s reflection. I could tell she had just woken up by the means of her bed hair. She pushed up her black framed eyeglasses onto her nose with the index of her finger. She flopped down onto my bed with her knees in the air allowing her oversized strawberry shortcake t-shirt expose her upper thighs and black underwear she wore. I saw her reading the newspaper. I turned around to look at her. “Where did you get that from?”
“Our neighbor.” Autumn said calmly not taking her eyes off the paper she was reading.
“Our neighbor? You met the neighbor, dressed like that?”
She turned her head and looked at me as she chewed the end of a ballpoint pen she held. “He’s cute too. Besides, what’s the big deal? You’re going to class dressed like that?” she then returned her focus back to the paper she was reading.
That’s my sister. We looked so much alike but we were so different. People used to always tell us that our personalities never reflected how we looked on the outside. You see, Autumn was like a sexy vixen. She dressed up when she would go out to the club looking for men. She was a total nymphomaniac (love to have sex). But you would never think that by her appearance. You might think I was the nymphomaniac. I dressed conservatively. I didn’t wear the geeky glasses. I was the smart one always trying to get an education and make a better life for the both of us since it was only the two of us. I was also shy when it came to guys…unlike my sister of course. I was a virgin. But you might not think so by looking at me. That’s why people always said our personalities should switch bodies. I laughed at the thought. However, because of my sister’s nymphomaniac antics, it would get ‘us’ in trouble. Our family pretty much disowned us. That’s why I feel like I have to look out for my sister. But she is such a pain. I didn’t want her here with me in New York, but I couldn’t abandon her like the rest of our family have done. New York was going to be different for me. For us.
I stood up placing my purse on my shoulder and picking up my school folders. “I hope you’re not looking for a job in that paper.”
“As a matter of fact, I am.” She smiled connivingly.
“No, Autumn. I don’t want you leaving this apartment. Things are going to be different here, do you understand me?”
“Hey! You’re not the boss of me, missy!” Autumn said as she sat up on the bed.
“You’re not even supposed to be living here! No one can know that I have a twin sister living with me.” Autumn smiled and said, “Well, it’s a good thing we look alike, right?”
I rolled my eyes at her. “Im going to class. I’ll be back later.”
“I can’t wait.” Autumn said sarcastically as she pushed her eyeglasses up on her nose.
As I walked out the door shutting it behind me, I stuck the key into the keyhole to lock it. I heard someone else coming out of their apartment door. I turned to look in that direction. It was my next door neighbor. He was locking his door as he came out as well. We made eye contact. He smiled at me as his eyes roamed up and down my body.
“Wow…you clean up nice.” He winked at me.
I gave him a puzzled look.
He noticed my expression. “Remember me? We talked like a few minutes ago…I gave you my paper….?” “OH!” I said quickly and smiled realizing this was the neighbor my sister was talking about.
“Im sorry, I was trying to be funny, but I guess I bombed.” He smiled as he walked closer to me. “Maybe we should start all over. I never formally introduced myself to you.” He extended his hand.
My sister was right, he is cute. He looked as if he could work on Wall Street.
He continued, “Im Nick.” He smiled.
I welcomed his hand into my hand and responded, “Im Summer.”
The woman smiled with satisfaction. “Excellent. If there is anything you think you might need as you move in today, please don’t hesitate to ask.”

Chapter 2 -- (Summer)
N.Y.U (College Campus)
It was the first day of class, and my professor was already killing us with taking notes and giving a boring lecture in this small auditorium. The room had 7 long rows with at least 15 seats per row. I was sitting in the sixth row from the top. This was History class. Yawn. Professor Jack Nicholson wasn’t making things any better. But his voice was rather amusing and that kept my attention as I sat in my chair bouncing my pencil up and down on my notepad.
My attention then turned to a small racket noise as someone tried to squeeze between the students in the same row I was sitting in. That someone was a guy and he was hot. He wore a white t-shirt with a graphic reading that stated:‘Pass The Hair Gel’. Then there was a stencil picture of just the top of a guy’s head with spiky hair and shades. I smiled at the joking reference of the tv reality show Jersey Shore the shirt made. Although, this guy wearing the shirt obviously wasn’t like any of those characters on that show. He barely wore gel in his short cropped hair. He was tan, but not orange. He had a slim muscular frame, and not a ‘gorilla’ muscular frame. He had a 5 o’clock shadow beard thing going on even though it was 8 in the morning. However, it was very nicely trimmed. There was an empty chair on each side of me. He plopped down in the seat to my right.
“Wsup.” He whispered with a smile as he quickly got his notebook and pencil out.
I smiled back at him as I adjusted myself in my seat to give him more room. He smelled nice too.
He then leaned over to me and whispered, “So how much did I miss?”
Before I could respond, I heard the professor’s voice over power into the small auditorium. “Ahh…Mr. Jonas! Looks like we meet again. And yet, you decide to disturb my class again.”
“Uh…my fault Professor.” The guy next to me spoke up as he sat up straight in his chair.
“Glad you could finally join us, Mr. Jonas. Perhaps I will get to have the pleasure of you taking the whole course this semester without disturbing my other students…?”
The guy who’s name apparently was Mr. Jonas, pointed his finger at the professor and winked with a smile saying, “You got it!”
There were a few sounds of mumbled laughter thru out the auditorium from Mr. Jonas and the professor’s interaction. Before Professor Nicholson continued on with his lecture, he stated, “Meet me after class, Mr. Jonas.”
Mr. Jonas looked at me and shrugged his shoulder as he turned his attention back to the professor and started taking notes.
I smiled and focused back to the professor as well.
------------
I gathered my things as I walked out of my English class…the last class for the day. Now I needed to prepare to take the train back home. As I walked outside on the campus sidewalk, I wondered what my sister was up to. I was looking for my cell phone in my bag when…BAM…I crashed into someone making all of my books and notebooks fall to the ground. I almost lost my balance when the person I bumped into quickly embraced me to keep me from falling.
“WHOA! I am so sorry!” the other person said to me.
I stared back at a familiar tshirt. It was the same white t-shirt with the graphics ‘Pass The Hair Gel.’ I looked up into his caramel brown eyes and saw that it was Mr. Jonas from my History class.
“Are you okay?” he asked with concern.
I nodded yes and quickly bent down to pick up my books and notebooks.
He joined me down below as he gathered my things for me. Once all my things were off the ground we both stood up facing each other. He handed me the things I didn’t get to that were on the ground. “Thanks,” I said with a smile.
He smiled back, “No problem.” He then paused and looked at me. “You look familiar…you’re in my History class, right?”
“Yea, I think you were the guy who came in super late.” I blushed.
He laughed. “Yeah…pretty embarrassing. Professor Nicholson didn’t make anything better either.”
I giggled.
“Well, again I apologize for pretty much running you over. I was trying to catch up with this guy I saw across the yard…” his eyes drifted into the distance as if he were looking for someone. He then looked back into my eyes, “…but I guess I can catch up with him later.”
“Yeah, I guess.” I said and turned to walk away.
I took a few steps away from him when I heard him quickly rush up behind me and started to walk with me.
“My name is Joe by the way.”
I looked at him as I kept walking and smiled. “Hi, Joe by the way.”
He chuckled. “Cute.” He said as he continued to walk beside me. “So what’s your name?”
“Summer.” I said as I pushed a few strands out of my eye thanks to the brisk wind that was blowing as we walked.
“Wow. Beautiful name. I never met a 'Summer' before. So what year are you?”
I looked at him not sure what he meant by what year I was.
He noticed my expression and continued as he adjusted his book bag on his shoulder, “Are you a freshman, sophomore, junior…?”
“Oh,” I giggled, “Sorry…im a freshman. Its my first semester here.”
“Cool, well, welcome to University of New York. How do you like it so far?”
“It’s really nice.”
I guess he noticed how we were walking further away from campus and away from the student parking lots. He then asked as he looked around, “So…do you live nearby?”
“Nope.” I answered.
“Are you walking home? Because if you need a ride, I can take you home.”
I stopped walking and looked at him with my eyebrows furrowed.
He stopped walking and quickly added, “I mean…that is if you want.”
“I can take the train.” I said and started back walking.
“The train? No way, let me take you home. It’s the least I can do for running you over back there.” He said no longer following me.
“No thanks, Im good.” I said loudly to him as I kept walking.
“Well I tried. See you in class tomorrow!” he shouted to me as I kept walking.
