Chapter 17
It was a cloudy, gloomy and rainy morning. And it was the day of Sabrina’s father, Dean Cain's, funeral. Nick got dressed wearing a dark maroon shirt, black tie and trousers. As Nick began tucking his shirt into his pants, Cody came down the steps.
“Good morning, Cody.” Nick greeted him.
Cody gave Nick a brief smile greeting him back. He walked into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. He was wearing black trousers and a white shirt. “Would you like some orange juice?” Cody asked Nick as he grabbed for his favorite cup.
“Sure.” Nick replied and walked over to the kitchen to join Cody.
Cody proceeded to pour Nick a glass of orange juice.
“Thanks, Cody.”
“No problem-o. Would like some breakfast? We have some cereal, eggs, and bacon and toast. Oh…and we have some granola bars that I know you adults like to eat.”
Nick chuckled. “I think I’ll pass. But thanks.”
“Okay.” Cody simply responded.
“Do you usually fix yourself breakfast?”
“Yep. I got used to it when grandpa got really sick. You know…less stress for mom and aunt Kelly.” Cody said as he fixed his bowl of Captain Crunch Berries cereal.
Nick smiled at how mature Cody was for his age. “How old are you again, Cody?”
“I’ll be nine in December. Only a few months away.” He smiled wide without showing his teeth.
Nick chuckled once again. “Very cool. Very cool.” Nick said admiring how cute he was. He had Sabrina’s eyes.
Cody sat down at the table across from Nick and began eating his bowl of cereal. They began making small talk getting to know each other a little more. Cody even shared a knock knock joke with him. Nick shared one with him as well earning cool points in Cody’s book.
“You’re funny.” Cody told Nick.
“You’re not so bad yourself, kid.” Nick smiled at him.

Sabrina's dress
They both heard footsteps coming down the steps. It was Sabrina. She wore a simple black dress and her hair flowed down around her shoulders.
“Hey mom!” Cody said as he took his last spoonful of cereal into his mouth.
“Good morning, sweetie. Im glad you ate. Now go upstairs and grab your black tie. Don’t forget to make up your bed. We have to get ready to leave soon to aunt Kelly’s house.”
“Okay.” Cody simply replied. He then ran upstairs to his room.
Sabrina walked to her refrigerator and grabbed the orange juice pouring herself a glass.
“How are you feeling this morning?” Nick asked staring at her.
Sabrina didn’t respond. She continued to move about in the kitchen.
Nick shook his head when he realized Sabrina was giving him the silent treatment. Nick stood up and walked away sighing.“Im here for you, Bri-bear.” He said in a low tone.
Sabrina only stared at Nick as he walked back into her living room while drinking her juice.
------------
The funeral was over crowded with family, friends, and coworkers. Sabrina’s boss, Mr. Sean Connery, even showed up. Sabrina cried at the funeral, however she had to be strong for her son Cody who finally broke down and cried. Truth be told, Sabrina was happy that Nick was there to support her. Kelly had her husband Derek there for her and he was there every step of the way not letting Kelly go out of his sight not even for a second.

Kelly's Condo
After the funeral, later that evening, a few friends came back to Kelly’s house to continue to share in their support for both Kelly and Sabrina. Demi had heard about the death of Sabrina’s father and came to show her support. Gary and Lilly from Sabrina’s job also came back to Kelly’s house to show more support for Sabrina.
Raven, of course, was there with the family all day long.
There was also a guy named Mitch who came to support Sabrina. He used to go to College with Sabrina and he used to work at the same company as she did. So, he knew Gary, Lilly and Raven as well.
Everyone had changed clothes, relaxed and having fun laughing and talking. Cody had just left with Raven’s mother so he could spend the weekend with Raven’s nephew Jermaine. So it was now just a house full of adults.
Nick, Derek, Raven and one of Derek’s cousin named Channing were playing cards at Kelly’s dining room table while the others were all lounging around in the living room and or the kitchen.

Nick, Derek, Raven and one of Derek’s cousin named Channing were playing cards at Kelly’s dining room table while the others were all lounging around in the living room and or the kitchen.
“Ok, Channing. I know we just met tonight, but dammit, you better be the best partner I ever had in a game of cards. I mean I need you to really get to know me.” Raven said loudly wiggling her eye brows up and down and randomly winking at Channing her card game partner for the night.
Channing laughed. “I got you girl. We got this.”
Derek and Nick laughed at Raven.
“Hold on, you can’t talk across the board!” Nick teased Raven who was sitting to his left.
“I know! What’s with all the winking and raising of the brow. You’re cheating already!” Derek laughed.
“I don’t know what you guys are talking about! Channing what are they talking about?” Raven giggled.
Nick laughed, “Derek we definitely have to watch her!”
Derek agreed.
Kelly laughed as she walked up behind her husband giving him a beer and kissed his cheek.
“Thank you baby.” Derek said to her.
“Kelly, don’t come around here unless you are going to mess with Derek’s head in the game.” Raven teased making everyone laugh.
Sabrina came out from the back of Kelly’s condo shaking her hair out from her ponytail she had tied shortly after the funeral. She had changed into a thin white tank loosely fitting tank top and black shorts. Nick watched her as she appeared to have glided into the living room laughing and talking with everyone else. Nick couldn't help but stare at her lean tanned legs as he felt she strutted across the room.
Sabrina hadn’t really talked to Nick thru out the day. However, Nick didn’t sense she was ignoring him during the funeral at all. She welcomed any comforting affection he gave to her. Yet after the funeral when everyone came back to Kelly’s house, her attention was with everyone else. Especially the guy named Mitch. Nick noticed that he was the only one that she never introduced him to. This made him pay more close attention to their relationship. Nick felt like he was a douche. He walked around winking at every female and giving some sort of smile he may have felt was charming. Nick also noticed how he constantly stared at Sabrina. Nick's eyes weren't the only ones staring at her legs.
“Sabrina, I have to go girl. I have to get my rest and get up early in the morning.” Gary said as he reached out to Sabrina to give her a hug. “Aww, you’re leaving?”
“Yes, girl. We are putting in some overtime tomorrow for work. Right, Lilly?”
Lilly stood up and hugged Sabrina as well. “Yes. But it’s nothing for you to worry about, Sabrina.”
“I still can’t believe you two rode together.” Sabrina said with a broad smile.
“I know. Write this down on the calendar because this will be the last and final time you see us being cordial together. This is all for you Sabrina.” Lilly said sarcastically.
Sabrina laughed.
“Oh no she didn’t. See this is why I didn’t want the bitch riding with me. This is the last time.” Gary said rolling his neck.
“Wow. You guys never change.” Mitch laughed at the two.
Both Gary and Lilly laughed and gave a hug to Kelly as well. They said their goodbyes to everyone and left.
Moments later, Demi walked up to Mitch and Sabrina who were laughing and talking in the kitchen, and started to say her goodbyes.
“Demi thank you sooo much for coming today. I really really appreciate it.” Sabrina said hugging Demi.
“No problem.”
“Do you mind if we talk for a second?”
Demi agreed.
Sabrina excused herself from Mitch and walked with Demi out onto Kelly’s patio.
Sabrina proceeded to tell Demi about her conversation with the attorney Eva Mendez. She told her about the court date and asked if she would be willing to come along and testify against Zack.
Demi only stared blankly at her for a moment. “Uhm…I guess.”
“Please, Demi? I want to do this. I just know, that if my father had known, he would push me to go and do this. Now…with him gone…I don’t know, I just feel like…I have to do this. Your support would be awesome. I think the fact that we’re both there in support of each other, would be more than awesome. All we have to do is just tell the court what happened. Our side of the story, that has never been told, will finally be heard.” Sabrina paused waiting for Demi to respond. “So…what do you think? Yes? No? Maybe?”
Demi took a deep breath and remained silent for a long time in deep thoughts. She sighed and finally said, “When do we leave?”
Sabrina smiled and hugged Demi tightly. “We deserve this moment.”
Demi welcomed her embrace. She pulled away with a smile. “You’re right. We do. Im proud of you Sabrina. You have gotten even stronger now. What happened?”
“I think knowing how strong my father was, has made me realize that I can be just as strong. I need to do this for Cody too. I know both of my parents were strong people and would do anything for me. And I want Cody to realize this too.”
“That’s great. I can tell Im going to need you to help me be strong. I hope I can do this court thing. I always hoped to never see Zack again, ya know.”
"I totally understand. Im here for you. We can do this...together." Sabrina smiled at Demi.
Demi smiled back at her and agreed.
Demi looked into the house at the group playing cards. Her eye diverted to Channing, Derek's cousin. “Channing is really hot. Do you think you can spread a good word in for me?”
Sabrina giggled. “Sure. I’ll definitely put a good word in for you.”
Demi hugged Sabrina again as she said her goodbyes. She hugged Kelly, Raven, and Nick, briefly interrupting their card game. She made sure to say goodbye to Channing and smiled at him just as she left out the door.
Nick was hoping that Mitch would leave as well but he still stuck around.
Sabrina and Mitch were the only ones left talking in the living room. Kelly had pulled up a bar stool sitting between Channing and Derek. It was obvious how much the married couple had missed each other. Thru out the day, Derek wouldn’t let Kelly out of his sight, and now into the night, Kelly couldn’t leave Derek’s side. Nick found himself wanting the same affection with he and Sabrina. But Sabrina was preoccupied with Mitch at the moment. Nick found himself getting angry. Perhaps even jealous. However, he kept playing cards as if nothing were wrong.
Thru out their quiet moments of the card game, Sabrina and Mitch’s laughter would fill the room. Nick found himself glaring at Mitch when he saw how Mitch was slightly rubbing Sabrina’s knee as they talked.
“Yo, partner! It’s your turn.” Derek said looking at Nick.
“Oh…sorry.” Nick said thinking about Mitch and Sabrina.
Raven and Kelly exchanged glances when they realized Nick’s attention was with Sabrina and Mitch in the living room instead of the card game.
Another hour or so later, the group were done playing cards and both Channing and Raven decided to call it a night.
“Channing, we must pair up again so we can beat these guys again. We were on fire!” Raven exclaimed as she held up her hand giving Channing a high-five.
“Anytime baby girl, anytime.” Channing replied giving Raven a hug.
“Yeah right. House guest rules: We let you win.” Derek teased.
“Riiiight. Alright man, im out. Holla at me before you have to go back over seas.” Channing said giving his cousin Derek a fist bump and a hug.
“I will.”
Channing then turned to give Kelly a hug. “Call me if you need anything.”
“Thank you, Channing.”
Channing gave Nick a fist bump telling him it was nice to meet him. Channing then hugged Sabrina and said his goodbyes. Sabrina briefly mentioned Demi to him.
“Oh yeah, she’s real cute. Give her my number.”
“Will do.” Sabrina said with a smile.
Channing nodded his head to Mitch and left the house.
Raven gave Kelly and Derek a hug. “You guys call me. Derek, you be safe going back over to the desert lands if I don’t see you again before you leave.”
Derek laughed and thanked her.
Raven looked up at Nick and glanced at Sabrina. She then looked at Nick saying quietly, “Don’t give up on her.”
Nick smiled. “I won’t.”
“You better not. I hope to see you real soon.” She then wrapped her arms around his neck giving him a hug.
“You will.” Nick whispered to her as he hugged her.
Raven then walked over to Mitch. “Good to see you again. We’ll have to do lunch sometime again.” Raven said giving him a quick hug. “Sounds like fun.” Mitch said when he hugged her.
Raven looked at Sabrina as if she had saved the best for last. “Alright mama…” Raven said wrapping her arms around Sabrina tightly. “You did really good today. Im proud of you. How do you feel?”
“I feel good Rave. Thank you so much for everything.”
“You are family. It’s nothing.”
“Call me if Cody gets out of hand.”
“Yea right...not my angel." Raven laughed. "Bye guys!” Raven smiled waving to everyone as she left.
Kelly started to clean up the kitchen a little, while Nick help Derek put the dining room back to its original stature.
Mitch continued to talk to Sabrina in the living room.
“Are you guys staying the night here?” Derek asked Nick.
“I don’t know. She hasn’t really spoken to me all day.” Nick said bitterly.
“This dude doesn’t get that he’s the only one left, huh?” Derek said looking at Mitch.
“Maybe.” Nick replied flatly glaring at Mitch.
“Well, I think im going to bed. Are you guys staying here for the night?” Kelly asked as she walked up to Derek and Nick.
Nick shrugged his shoulders.
“Babe, who is that dude?” Derek asked Kelly as he wrapped his arm around her waist.
“He’s just an old friend.” Kelly responded. She looked at Nick. “Don’t worry. He’s a nobody.”
Sabrina looked over at her aunt, Derek and Nick. She could tell they were talking about her. “What?” Sabrina asked looking at her aunt. “Sweetie, Derek and I are tired. We just wanted to know are you staying the night or going home?”
“Oh. Sorry. No, Im going home. I want to sleep in my own bed tonight.”
“Well I guess that’s my cue to go home.” Mitch said exchanging glances with everyone in the room.
“Well, it was nice to see you and thanks for coming by.” Kelly said walking up to Mitch and gave him a quick hug.
“No problem.” Mitch replied.
Kelly hugged Sabrina and told her to lock up when she leaves.
Sabrina agreed.
Kelly gave Nick a long and warm embrace. “Thank you so much. So glad you were here this week. Don’t leave town without saying bye to us. I have a feeling you and Brin might spend some time together over the weekend before you leave. She needs it.”
“Will do.” Nick replied.
Derek gave him a hug and thanked Nick as well. He then quickly shook Mitch’s hand saying good night.
With Kelly and Derek gone back to their bedroom, Nick couldn’t believe that Mitch was still there. Nick wanted to take his collar and shove him out the door.
“I don’t think we met? Are you family?” Mitch asked Nick.
“No, I—“
“Oh he’s just a family friend. Nick, can you give us a second?” Sabrina interrupted Nick.
Nick looked around and held his arms out to his side. “Where would you like for me to go?”
Sabrina sighed rolling her eyes a bit. “I don’t know…the guest bedroom?”
“No, it’s okay. Im leaving anyway, so its okay.” Mitch said grabbing Sabrina’s hand. “Do you have any plans tomorrow? Or anytime this weekend?”
“Actually I don’t. I’m free all weekend.” Sabrina smiled flirtatiously.
“Nice. Why don’t we get together tomorrow. I would love to take you out for lunch or something. You know, get your mind off things.”
“That sounds great. Thanks.”
Mitch gave Sabrina a hug as he kept his eyes on Nick. As Mitch pulled away he slowly kissed Sabrina’s cheek and gently rubbed her cheek with the back of his hand giving her a wink. He then walked toward Nick extending his hand. “I didn’t get your name.”
“It’s okay, you won’t see me again.” Nick sad leaving Mitch’s hand out to hang in the air.
Mitch slowly drew his hand back and looked back at Sabrina and smiled giving her a wink.
“Bye.” Sabrina said walking Mitch out the door.
Once Mitch left, Nick stood there extremely pissed off.
Sabrina looked at Nick. She noticed he was clenching his jaw muscles. “Are you ready to go?”
“Yep.” Nick said without looking at her.
Sabrina went to the back to grab her bag of clothes. She turned off the lights and left her aunt’s house with Nick following closely behind her.

Sabrina's Town Home
The car ride back to Sabrina’s house was silent. They entered into the back of the house coming in thru kitchen in silence. Nick walked over toward the sofa where his belongings were.
“So…what would you like for me to do now?” Nick asked Sabrina sarcastically. Sabrina was moving about in her kitchen when she stopped to look at Nick. “What?”
“It doesn’t seem like you need me anymore. So, should I leave now or what?”
“Do you want to leave?” Sabrina narrowed her eyes at Nick.
Nick clenched his jaw muscles. He was clearly upset but was trying to remain calm. “Im asking you…what would you like for me to do? Should I just take up more space or do you want me to leave?”
“What are you talking about?” Sabrina asked as she walked closer toward Nick in the living room.
“What do you want me to do!” Nick yelled at her impatiently.
Sabrina stopped and looked at him confused. “Why are you yelling at me?”
“Because your pissing me off Sabrina!”
“Im pissing you off? You’re the one who wants to leave. It’s what you do best. You leave me when I need you most.” Sabrina yelled at him. “Are you fucking insane?” Nick frowned.
“Don’t talk to me that way!”
“Your right. You drive me fucking insane!”
“Then leave! I’ll be fine. Just like I’ll be fine on Monday.” Sabrina yelled at Nick as she started to walk away obviously still upset that he couldn’t be in court with her on Monday.
“Are you fucking serious?!” Nick yelled at Sabrina making her jump and turn around to look at him. “If you’re just going to discard every time I am here for you, then fuck it Sabrina! Im tired of holding my tongue with you. IM ALWAYS HERE FOR YOU!” Nick shouted at her angrily making Sabrina back away from him. Nick moved closer to her as he continued to yell at her. “Im sick of you talking about how I always leave you when you need me most. I was there today, was I not? I don’t do this shit just to count how many times I’ve been here or there for you! I do it because I care about you. And every-single-fucking-time, you find a way to just shut me out." Nick paused and continued no longer yelling, yet still upset. "You ignored me today…but gave all your time to some asshole with a name like Mitch? I mean what do you know about this guy anyway?”
“What do you mean what do I know about him? What are you trying to say?” Sabrina protested as she narrowed her eyes at him.
“This guy just comes out of nowhere and you’re making dates with him. You don’t know him.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about. Just because you don’t know him, doesn’t mean anything.”
“Well ... we both knew Zack and look what he turned out to be.” Nick said coldly.
Sabrina just stared at him. They both stared at each other as if challenging each other in a dueling match of staring.
“That was not called for.” Sabrina said thru her teeth.
Nick folded his arms in front of his chest as he looked down at her. He stood there letting her know he wasn’t backing down.
“You’re such an ass.” Sabrina pushed him away and started to walk away.
“You’re always walking away!” Nick said loudly with annoyance as he watched her walk toward her kitchen making sure the doors were locked and turning off the lights.
“Im going to bed. I really don’t care what you do. Stay, leave…whatever. I don’t care.” Sabrina said without looking at him.
Nick walked to the bottom of the steps blocking her way to go up to her room.
Sabrina walked up to him trying to get past him. “Nick…seriously? Move.”
“You never want to talk things out. That’s a problem.”
“What! What is there to talk about?” Sabrina yelled at him out of frustration.
“I don’t think you should hang out with this … Mitch guy tomorrow.” Nick said calmly looking down at her.
Sabrina folded her arms in front of her chest and shifted her weight on one leg as she gave Nick a suspicious eye. “You’re jealous.”
“What? Don’t be silly.” Nick chuckled looking away off into the distance.
“You are! You’re jealous.” Sabrina smirked.
“Pshh, don’t be absurd. You’re being really ridiculous right now.” Nick said as he made an expression as if he had just eaten something sour. “Well then, there should be no problem.” Sabrina pushed her way past Nick going up the steps to her bedroom.
“I just think that considering the situation, it wouldn’t be a good idea.” Nick said following her up the steps.
“Nick stop! I am not your little puppet! You can’t keep making me do things and then tell me what I can and can’t do! Why don’t you just stop, and let me live my life!” Sabrina shouted at him in anger as they both reached the top of the steps.
“When I did that before, you got mad at me for leaving you! Would you like for me to recall the night of the party when you were fucking 14 years old?! That seems to be the time you keep bringing up… when I left you, remember?” Nick shouted back at her in frustration.
Sabrina rolled her eyes and walked away from Nick.
“Dammit, stop walking away from me!” Nick yelled at her angrily.
Sabrina jumped at his sudden outrage. She stopped at her door and turned around looking up at him. “Stop yelling at me! Why are you yelling?”
Nick paused and lowered his voice taking a deep breath to speak more calmly. “Because, you get me so worked up. Ever since we were kids. The little things you do just … it just pisses me off.”
“Just stop trying to be my father. I buried my father today, remember?” Sabrina said calmly yet still upset.
Nick paused and thought about what she said. He looked down at his feet in deep thoughts.
Sabrina walked into her bedroom getting her pajamas out to prepare for a shower and bed.
Nick stood there quietly in her door frame. He finally looked up and said in a low, calm and husky voice, “I just want you to be happy, Brin. I want you… to realize that I’d do anything for you. I want you… to get over your troubled past in a healthy way. I want …you…” Nick paused as if he were going to say something else.
Sabrina froze in her position looking at Nick waiting for him to continue.
He only stared back at her as if he were in deep thoughts.
“You want me to what?” Sabrina asked softly.
Nick slowly shook his head. “I just … want you.” Nick said in a slight whisper as he gazed into her brown eyes.
Sabrina didn’t respond. She just stared at him with a slight confused expression. “Wh-what?”
Nick looked away briefly and sighed. “This is such bad fucking timing.” he mumbled to himself. He then looked back at her and cleared his throat. “Brin…I love you. Im in love with you. I’ve been in love with you since that first day I laid eyes on you when we were in kindergarten and you had that strawberry syrup stain on the Rainbow Brite shirt you wore.”
Sabrina slowly smiled and almost burst out laughing thinking about the moment how he thought she was bleeding.
Nick chuckled when he saw her about to laugh. “What? Im serious.” He then turned his expression serious, yet still about to laugh. “This is not funny. Im trying to express my love for you…and you’re laughing.”
Sabrina giggled trying to stop from laughing as she brought her hand up to her lips. “Im sorry.”
Nick smiled and rubbed the back of his neck and stuffed his hand into his jeans pockets. He wished he hadn’t confessed his love for her so suddenly. He looked down. “Im sorry. I probably shouldn’t have—“
“No…it’s okay.” Sabrina said quietly interrupting him. “I didn’t know I worked you up so badly. I apologize.”
Nick didn’t respond. He looked at her. He wanted to pull her close and attack her luscious lips with his kisses. But she had yet responded to the way he confessed his love for her. It was obvious to him that she didn’t feel the same way. Nick felt like an idiot. He sighed taking a deep breath. “I uh…” Nick cleared his throat again. He continued speaking calmly yet wanting to think of something other than kissing her. “You’re right. I don’t want to be or trying to be your puppeteer. And I am definitely not trying to be your father. I just hope that even though I can’t be there with you on Monday for court, that, you will still go.”
“I am. Demi is going to come with me.”
Nick gave her a puzzled look.
Sabrina continued softly, “She actually has a reason to be there. You know Demi dated Zack our junior year in high school. Over the summer into our senior year, Zack abused her and raped her. So…I thought it would be a great idea if Demi came along to help with the case.” Sabrina looked innocently up at Nick.
Nick was a little shocked to hear about Demi, however considering the person that Zack has grown to become, he wasn’t that shocked. “That’s awesome. I mean…Im glad you both are going to do the right thing.”
Sabrina slowly nodded in agreement as she shyly looked at him.
“I should probably go…so…you can go to bed. It’s been a long day.” Nick hesitated as he backed away from her bedroom door.
“Well, you’re not like…leaving, leaving…are you?”
“What do you want me to do?” Nick asked her in a serious tone.
Sabrina gently bit her lower lip. She then finally responded, “Stay. Just one more night. It would be nice to know that you were still around for the night before you leave.”
Nick gave her a faint smile. “Okay.” He simply replied. He then grabbed her door knob and began closing it as he stepped out. He looked back at her and said softly, “Good night.”
“Night.” Sabrina said quietly and watched him leave out of her room.
Sabrina stood there for a second deep in her thoughts. She then took a deep breath and walked into her bathroom to take a shower.
Nick walked down stairs and changed clothes to go to sleep on Sabrina’s sofa. He got on the internet on his cell phone to book his plane ticket home. He made reservations for an early morning flight.
While in the shower Sabrina thought about how the day had progressed. She thought about her father, the funeral and all the fun conversations after the funeral back at her aunt’s house. She thought about the court date and what could happen on that day. She then thought about Nick. She really wished he could be there for her, but she now understood he can’t always be there. Yet, he has been there for her. He was always there for her. She loved him for that. Love? Sabrina thought as she allowed the water to run over her hair and body. She couldn’t believe Nick told her that he was in love with her. She smiled as she thought about how he remembered their very first day in kindergarten and how they had met.
After her shower, Sabrina dried off and towel dried her hair. She put on a red cami tank top and her black boyshort panties with lace trim.. She looked out the window to make sure Nick was still at her house. His car was sitting outside parked against the curb. She then opened her bedroom door and slid under the covers into her bed. She never sleeps with her bedroom door open. However, she found herself hoping, and wishing that Nick would come back up stairs into her room. Leaving the door open was her way of inviting Nick into her room.
Sabrina waited and waited. However, Nick never came into her room. Before she knew it, she fell into a deep slumber.

Nick paused and continued no longer yelling, yet still upset. "You ignored me today…but gave all your time to some asshole with a name like Mitch? I mean what do you know about this guy anyway?”

Chapter 18
_Nick woke up early that next morning. He barely got any sleep that night
thinking about Sabrina. The sun had yet to rise, and Nick decided to
get up from her sofa and take a shower. He threw on a simple gray v-neck
t-shirt and dark navy blue jeans. He quietly moved about not to disturb
Sabrina’s sleep.
Nick packed his bag and packed it into his rental car.
By this time the sun was now slowly starting to rise giving the sky very little light. Nick placed his keys into his jeans pocket, and calmly walked upstairs to Sabrina’s room.
He knocked lightly on her open door. “Sabrina?” He called her name lightly.
Sabrina was lying on her stomach with her white comforter pulled over her body just under her shoulder blades.
Nick walked into her room and sat on the edge of her bed and tapped her legs thru the covers.
“Brin…” he said a little louder to wake her.
_ Sabrina jerked her head slightly up squinting her eyes from
the little light that was shining in her bedroom. She turned her head to look
back to see Nick sitting on her bed.
“Good morning, Bri-bear.”
Sabrina lightly groaned waking up from her sleep as she turned to her side and slowly sat up removing her hair from her face. “Good morning.” She finally said in her scratchy early morning voice.
Nick thought she looked so beautiful with her hair tossed all over her head. He chuckled a little at her grogginess.
Sabrina finally got a good look at Nick and saw that he was fully dressed. “Where are you going?”
“Im getting ready to catch my flight home.”
Sabrina ran her fingers thru her long dark hair tossing it to the side as she looked at Nick slightly confused. “Wait, you’re leaving already?” “Yeah. I have to get back.” Nick said softly.
“But…so soon?”
“Yeah. It’s best that I go ahead and leave. You know…get out of your hair so you can enjoy your day. I should probably get more rest before going back to work tomorrow too.”
Sabrina looked disappointed. “But it’s Saturday…you don’t have to work until tomorrow. Why leave now?”
Nick smiled. “Brin, I just told you.”
Sabrina looked away saying, “Oh.”
“I’ll give you a call when I get home.” Nick said getting up and slightly leaning down to give her a hug.
Sabrina hugged him back.
“Don’t forget to knock ‘em dead in court on Monday.” Nick continued as he kissed her cheek. He pulled away and smiled at her. “And forget everything I said last night about Mitch. Have fun on your date. If you trust him…then hey, I trust him too.” He winked at her.
Sabrina gave him a faint smile.
“See ya Bri-bear.” Nick said moving a strand of hair away from her eye. He then walked away heading out of her room.
“Nick, wait.”
Nick turned around to face her. “Yeah?” he waited for her response.
“Thank you. For…everything. I really do appreciate you.”
Nick smiled. “No problem.” He then turned to walk away again.
“Nick!” Sabrina blurted.
Nick turned around and raised his brow waiting for her response once again.
Sabrina climbed out of her bed rushed up to Nick throwing her arms around his neck and standing on the tip of her toes and holding him tightly as she embraced him.
Slightly stunned at how she practically jumped on to him, Nick returned her embrace as he wrapped his arms around her small waist. “Stay…please?” Sabrina whispered. Before Nick had a chance to respond, Sabrina continued in a whisper, “I love you too.” Sabrina pulled away slightly still allowing her arms to stay wrapped around his neck, yet no longer on the tip of her toes.
They stared into each other’s eyes as their eyes danced from left to right. Sabrina then lowered her eyes down to Nick’s full lips. She began rubbing the back of his hair with her fingers. She never realized how kissable his lips looked.
Nick smiled. “Now you tell me.”
Sabrina smiled lightly as she continued to stare at his lips. She then glanced back up into his eyes. “I wanted to make sure when I said it…I meant it... And that it wasn’t because of whatever crazy emotion I was feeling. But…yeah, Nick…I do love you. Im in love with you too.”
Nick slowly leaned forward and gently placed his lips onto hers giving her a soft sensual kiss. They stood there softly kissing each other cherishing the moment that they had. Simultaneously they both deepened their kiss as Nick gently squeezed her hips and pulling her closer to him. Sabrina continued to rub her fingers thru his short curly hair as she pushed his head into her not wanting him to pull away. Sabrina then lowered her arms down around his torso gripping his t-shirt as she began to walk backwards toward her bed pulling him with her. Nick felt her pulling away and started to follow her lead by walking forward. He raised his hands up to her face sliding one hand into her long hair behind her head making sure she didn’t pull away from his lips as they walked.
Once Sabrina bumped into her bed she slowly sat down briefly breaking their kiss. Sabrina slid back onto her bed allowing Nick to move on top of her as she laid down. Nick hovered over her as he lustfully looked into her eyes. Sabrina reached up placing her hand around his face and pulled him down so she could feel his lips on hers once again. They passionately kissed each other as Nick slid his hands down Sabrina’s side down to her leg, gripping her bare thigh raising her leg to wrap around his waist. Sabrina then wrapped her other leg tightly around his waist allowing Nick to lay comfortably between her legs.
Nick slowly pulled away from their heated kiss and stared down at her.
Sabrina opened her eyes in a passionate daze looking up at Nick. “What’s wrong?”
“I love you.” Nick said in a low tone.
“And I love you.” Sabrina stated.
“I’ve dreamed of this moment for a long time.”
Sabrina slowly began to smile.
Nick continued, “But I don’t want to rush things.”
Sabrina’s smile slowly faded. “What do you mean? We’re not rushing.”
Nick chuckled.
“Are we?” Sabrina asked with a faint smile.
Nick moved his hand up and pushed a strand of her hair away from her face. He then slowly outlined her face with his finger as he gazed down at her. “I want to be able to kiss you all day long and stay in this position for a very long time…but, I have to go.”
“So, change your flight.”
“I already have. I changed it to this morning.”
“So miss your flight. I’ll take you home. Cody is gone for the weeken—“
“I can’t have you drive all the way down to Gainesville Florida. Do you know how far that is? That’s like over 5 hour drive.”
“And your point?”
Nick leaned down and kissed Sabrina on the lips. Nick quickly pulled away from their kiss. “Besides…you have a date with Mitch today.” Sabrina smacked her teeth. “Who’s Mitch?”
Nick laughed out loud. “Yea right.”
Sabrina laughed and pulled him down to her so they could kiss once more. Sabrina quickly wrapped her arms around Nick’s neck once she felt him pulling away once more.
“Babe…I …have … to go..” Nick said thru their kisses.
Sabrina then managed to roll on top of Nick. His legs were now dangling off her bed at the knee. Sabrina straddled over Nick as she sat up gripping his wrists holding them down out to his side. Sabrina tossed her head to the side to move her hair to one side off from around her shoulder. She smirked at him.
Nick chuckled. “A bit aggressive, I see. I think I will enjoy this.”
Sabrina giggled as she leaned down close to his face. “Stay. Please? I don’t want you to leave. Forget your job. Just stay here.” Sabrina pouted.
“Forget my job? Why don’t you forget your job? Get Cody, pack up you guy's clothes and come back to Gainesville with me.”
Sabrina looked down at him as if saying ‘ yeah right’.
“Im serious. I mean, you will have to do that anyway when we get married.” Nick said nonchalantly.
“Married?” Sabrina said as she slightly sat up yet still holding down his wrists.
Nick smiled. “Yeah, don’t worry. I already got your father’s blessings.”
“What?” Sabrina asked with a puzzled expression.
Nick noticed her expression. “Geez, Brin, Im not talking about getting married tomorrow.” He chuckled.
Sabrina sat all the way up releasing his wrists. Nick’s smile faded when he saw Sabrina in deep thoughts. Nick sat up as he placed his hands on her hips and butt to hold her on his lap. They were now closely sitting face to face.
“Too fast too soon for you, huh?” Nick asked raising her chin up so she can look at him.
“When did you talk to my dad about...us?”
“That day in the hospital. When we had our time alone.” Nick replied softly.
Sabrina looked down.
“Brin, Im not asking you to marry me now. But I do want to spend the rest of my life with you. There’s no other person I would rather spend my life with than with my best friend…which is you.” Nick said raising up her chin so she could look eye to eye with him.
Sabrina eyes had welled up with tears when Nick looked into her eyes. She blinked and one tear escaped down her cheek. Nick rubbed her tear away with his thumb. He knew she was thinking about her dad. Nick kissed her cheek where the tear had fallen down. He then gently kissed her lips. Sabrina then wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him. Nick wrapped his arms around her tightly.
“What would I do without you?” Sabrina whispered as she embraced him. She then looked at the clock sitting on her night stand beside her bed. “What time is your flight?”
Nick raised his arm up to read what time it said on his watch. Nick mumbled a curse. “In a little less than an hour. Im late.”
Sabrina gave him one last quick firm kiss on his lips and quickly hopped off of him. “I want to see you off.”
“Huh?” Nick said as he watched her scurry around and find a pair of jeans.
“I’ll follow you to the airport.”
Nick stood up and continued to watch her.
Sabrina continued, “All I know is that you better come back to see me as soon as you get some days off from your job.” She said as she pulled her jeans up over her hips.
She quickly grabbed her flip flops and slid her bare feet into them. She grabbed a light gray jacket and put it on over her red tank top. She quickly ran her fingers thru her hair and fluffed it out with her hands to make her hair look more presentable as she looked in the mirror. She then suddenly stopped as she stared at Nick who hadn’t moved at all. “Well, c’mon!” she smiled.
Nick smiled back at her yet continued to stare at her.
“What? Let’s go.” Sabrina said as she grabbed her purse.
Nick slowly walked up to her reaching for her jacket. He tugged on her jacket and pulled her closer to him. “Im going to hate myself in the morning if I leave now.” Nick then leaned down and hungrily kissed Sabrina as he slid her purse off her shoulders and took her jacket off around her shoulders.
Sabrina immediately kissed him back with passion. Once her arms were free from out of her jacket she quickly pulled up Nick’s gray t-shirt. Nick briefly pulled away from their kiss so Sabrina could slide his t-shirt off over his head. As soon as his t-shirt was off, they immediately attached their lips back together in a heated passion.
Nick unbuttoned Sabrina’s jeans and impatiently pulled at her jeans wanting to take them off. He managed to pull down her jeans leaving her standing there with just her red tank top and her black boyshort panties. Sabrina struggled with Nick’s belt to his jeans as she tried to unbuckle it. As they continued to kiss, Nick gently grabbed her hands throwing them around his neck. He slid his hands down her side and around her butt giving it a hard squeeze allowing Sabrina to let out a breathless moan into his mouth. He then picked her legs up wrapping them around his waist and carried her back over to her bed. He sat her down on her bed hovering over her.
Breaking their kiss he stood up and started to ease himself out of his shoes while unbuckling his belt to his jeans. Sabrina sat there admiring his muscular chest and sculpted abs. She couldn’t believe how much Nick had grown into a sexy man. He unzipped his jeans and pulled them down exposing his white boxers. Sabrina suddenly became nervous as she stared at the large “tent” in his boxers. She gently bit her lower lip and nervously looked up at Nick’s face. He handsomely smiled back at her. He leaned down placing the palms of his hand down on the bed by her thighs. He was now looking at her at eye level. His silver small chain necklace dangled loosely around his neck as he leaned down. He softly kissed her lips. Sabrina pulled back from his kiss as she placed her hands on his shoulders slightly pushing him away.
“Is this weird to you?”
“What do you mean?” Nick asked softly as he left a trail of soft little kisses down her neck.
“I don’t know. It’s just that…We’ve known each other for so long.”
Nick stopped kissing her and looked at her at eye level again. “I think that’s what makes this extra special.”
Sabrina rubbed her fingers thru his hair.
“We can stop and just hold each other if you want to." Nick paused and continued, "But... I really hope you don’t want to.” Nick slightly chuckled.
Sabrina giggled. She then moved her lips inches away from his and whispered, “No...Don’t stop.”
Nick gazed into her eyes. “Whatever you say.” Nick whispered back as his lips brushed over her lips.
(( RATED R ))
They began to slowly kiss passionately. Nick managed to slide her up further on to the bed as he climbed on top of her. He slowly lifted her tank top and raised it off over her head exposing her bare round breasts. Nick immediately cupped one of her breasts and sucked her nipple into his mouth as he gently caressed the other.
Nick gradually brought his lips back up to her lips as he took her hands and laced his fingers between her fingers raising her arms above her head. As Nick laid comfortably between her legs, Sabrina wrapped her legs around his waist. She could feel his hardness press hard onto her spot right between her legs forcing her to moan thru their tongue dancing kisses.
Nick released one hand from her hand, slowly moving it down her body and down between her legs dipping it inside her panties. He allowed his fingers to feel how wet she was down below. Sabrina could feel his fingers slide inside of her, grazing her sweet spot. She loudly moaned with a gasp as she moved her head away from Nick’s kisses. She ran her free hand thru Nick’s short curly hair as he began kissing and sucking her neck as she continued to feel Nick’s fingers move in and out of her. Sabrina continued to silently moan passionately at his touch.
He released his other hand from her hand so he could maneuver his way down her body. Sabrina felt his tongue swirling around her nipple and being sucked into his mouth a few times.
In the midst of her sexual moaning, Nick slid her panties down from around her hips, taking them completely off. Sabrina then felt his tongue inside her lips down below. She softly called out Nick’s name in ecstasy. She felt like she was about to reach her climax when Nick suddenly stopped touching her for a second.
Sabrina's body felt relief when she no longer felt his exotic touches. Within the next second, just as she was about to open her eyes to see what Nick was doing, Sabrina felt his hard shaft drive deep inside of her. She began moaning loudly feeling him slowly thrust in and out. Nick began making quiet sexual grunts as he thrust into her. Sabrina began to lightly dig her nails into his back as her body tensed feeling him deep inside of her walls. Nick looked down at her exotic love facial expressions.
"Am I hurting you?" Nick asked very softly as he slowly thrust into her.
Sabrina shook her head no as she continued to moan at his every thrust. "Don't stop." Sabrina managed to say breathlessly.
They later switched positions where Sabrina was now on top of Nick straddling over him. Sabrina slowly began grinding her hips down on to him as they kissed. Sabrina sat up and continued to grind on him as he held her hips thrusting himself up into her. Nick admired her exotic love faces she made as they continued to make love to each other. Nick sat up, hungrily kissing her as they continued to move in harmony. Nick maneuvered himself back on top of her, holding her legs up around his shoulders so he could drive deeper and harder into her as their love making became more intense. Sabrina’s constant breathless moans, and her exotically calling his name only made Nick hotter for her.
Finally, they both reached their climax. Nick collapsed on top of Sabrina breathing heavily into her neck and sweating at the forehead. Sabrina breathed heavily as well trying to catch her breath and come down from her passionate high as she kept her arms wrapped around him.
She bit her lower lip thinking about what just happened between the two of them as her trembling body slowly calmed from her orgasm fading away.
A few seconds pass and Nick finally rolls off of Sabrina, still tired from their intimate encounter. They both laid on their backs, side by side, quietly in their own thoughts.
For Nick, it had been a while since he enjoyed sex and felt like he was truly making love. He never admitted to Sabrina, but there were times he would have "quickie sessions" with his daughter's mother, Joanne. However, that's all it was. Just pure sex to relieve each other. There was no love. The two of them barely even got along. Nick felt that he and Joanne had an understanding between the two that they only used each other for sex since they were both only a familiarity source. Nothing more. With Sabrina, it was love. This he knew for sure. He knew she was the love of his life and he would do anything for her. He made a promise to himself as he laid there in her bed, that he would never let her go out of his life ever again.
For Sabrina, it had been several years since her last intimate encounter with a man. Cody's father, Josh, was the last person she had ever had sex with; which was about eight years ago. She never remembered sex being that awesome for her. Perhaps it was because this time, it was with someone she truly loved and she knew he truly loved her. It made her sexual experience ten times better. Josh may have been the guy she thought she loved. Perhaps he was there to only help her get over her tragic past. With Nick, she felt different. She felt like he cherished her. Treated her body with respect. It was something she thought she could get used to. She wanted more.
After several minutes of silence and only their calm breathing filling the room, Sabrina spoke first. “Now I see why all those girls back in high school were fighting over you.” She giggled as she ran her fingers thru her hair spreading it out on her pillow.
Nick laughed out loud and looked over at Sabrina.
“Damn…I’ve been missing out all this time, huh?” Sabrina continued.
Nick smiled not sure how to respond. He sat up on his elbow looking down at her. He lightly ran his finger across her full lips. “Clearly I’ve been missing out on you.” He smiled at her leaning down to softly kiss her lips.
Sabrina raised her hand to the back of his head running her fingers thru his short curls. Nick pulled slightly away from their kiss to only graze over her lips with his.
“What time is it?” Sabrina asked as her lips brushed against his.
Nick glanced over at the clock on her night stand. “I have officially missed my flight, thanks to you.” Nick said jokingly.
Sabrina giggled.
“My flight took off almost an hour ago.”
“Oops!” Sabrina said sarcastically.
Nick chuckled.
Sabrina gazed into his eyes and down to his lips. She softly bit her lower lip. “So…Wanna go again?” Sabrina asked slyly.
Nick smiled down at her. “Does this answer your question?” Nick leaned down and began kissing her passionately.
Sabrina nodded her head as their tongues danced thru their kisses. “Mmm-hmm.” Sabrina mumbled.
Nick positioned himself back on top of Sabrina as he allowed his knees to spread Sabrina’s legs so he could lie between them.
Within the next instant, they began making love… again.

“I don’t know. It’s just that…We’ve known each other for so long.”
Nick stopped kissing her and looked at her at eye level again. “I think that’s what makes this extra special.”

Within the next instant, they began making love… again.
Part II
_It wasn’t until about 1 or 2pm that afternoon when they decided
to get out of bed and get something to eat. Sabrina was laying on Nick’s chest
after their third round of love making. Once Nick regained his regular
breathing, he ran his fingers thru Sabrina’s hair saying, “You are killing
me.”
Sabrina giggled. “Sorry. I can’t seem to get enough of you.” Sabrina lifted her head giving him a soft kiss on the lips and deepened it.
Nick pulled away, “Geez…I need my energy back. This man has got to eat.”
Sabrina laughed and agreed.
They both got out of her bed and decided to shower together. After their shower together, Nick threw on his boxers while Sabrina threw on his gray v-neck t-shirt that fit loosely, covering her about mid thigh. “What do you have a taste for?” Sabrina asked as she towel dried her hair.
Nick walked up behind her wrapping his arms around her waist. “Mmmm, you.” He then nibbled on the back of her neck.
Sabrina giggled. “Liar. You said you still don’t have your energy back.”
Nick stopped nibbling on her neck and looked up into the mirror at their reflection. He smiled. “Yes, you’re right. But I need dessert…so stay tuned.” Nick gave her neck a quick firm kiss as he slapped her butt and walked away.
“May I use your laptop? I need to reschedule my flight.”
“Of course.” Sabrina answered as they both walked down stairs.
Sabrina walked into the kitchen looking for something to cook. “How does chicken fajitas sound? It’s quick.” Sabrina shrugged.
“Sounds delicious.” Nick said as he sat down on her sofa placing her laptop on the table in front of him.
Just as Sabrina began cooking, her phone rung. “Hello?” Sabrina answered.
“Hey girl. How are you feeling today?” It was Raven.
“Heyyyy. Im good thanks.”
“Well you sound good.”
Sabrina smiled as she continued cooking holding the phone up to her ear.
“Did Nick go home yet?”
“No.”
“Oh! He stayed another night?”
“Yes.”
Raven paused realizing all the short answers. “Is he like, right there?”
“Uhh..no.”
“But he’s near you?”
Sabrina laughed. “Yes.”
Raven paused again and smiled. “Did you guys smush?”
“Raven.”
“Okay! I think you did, even though you wont tell me.” Raven laughed.
Sabrina giggled quickly changing the subject, “How’s Cody?”
“He’s good. He and Jermaine are out and about riding their skateboards.”
“Good. I’ll pick him up tomorrow around 5pm I guess. He has his first day of school on Monday, so I want him to be home and get prepared and all that jazz.”
“Yeah, sure. You still want me to pick him up from school, right? Since you have to be in court on Monday.”
“Yes. Please.”
“Okay, will do. You continue to have fun with Nick, and I will talk to you later.”
“Bye.” Sabrina smiled hanging up the phone.
Sabrina looked back at Nick who was still on the computer. “Did you find something yet?”
“Not really.” he answered concentrating on what was showing on the computer screen.
Sabrina’s cell phone buzzed while sitting on the table near Nick. Nick tried not to look at it as it lit up, but he couldn’t help but sneak a peek. The caller id said it was a text message from Mitch. “Hey, babe…”
“Yes?” Sabrina answered in a cheerful sing song voice while cooking over the stove.
“Your phone is buzzing.” Nick replied.
“Who is it?”
“You have a text message from Mitch.”
“Oh, crap. I totally forgot about him.”
“I’ll text him back.” Nick said picking up her cell phone.
Sabrina quickly ran into the living room reaching for her cell phone away from Nick. She almost sat on Nick trying to get her phone.
Nick chuckled. “What? I wasn’t going to be mean.”
“Well, what are you going to say?”
“I wasn’t going to be mean. I promise.”
Sabrina allowed Nick to take her phone.
Nick was about to reply when he saw 2 missed calls from Mitch. “Oh…looks like he really wants to talk to you.”
“Just go to the messages.” Sabrina said as she sat closely next to him looking over his shoulder.
Mitch's message: Hi beautiful. Im here waiting @ our favorite lunch spot 4 u but will hav to leave in a few. Really wanted 2 c u. Hope we can meet up again sometime soon. Kisses 2 u.
“Kisses to you? What dude says that?” Nick said making fun of Mitch.
“Nick, stop.”
“Babe, Im sorry, but no normal dude is going to say ‘kisses to you’.” Nick starts laughing.
“Stop being mean.”
“Aww im sorry.” He pouted leaning into her. He then gave her a soft peck on her lips.
Sabrina playfully pushes him away and goes back into the kitchen to finish cooking.
Nick hits reply and texts: “I got very busy.”
Nick smirked and replaced her phone on the table.
“Did you text him back?” Sabrina asked him from the kitchen.
“Yep.”
“What did you say?”
Nick told her and she shook her head at Nick. “Well I didn’t lie. You did get busy.” Nick chuckled thinking about their multiple sexual encounters.
“You’re so crazy.” Sabrina giggled.
At that moment Sabrina’s cell phone buzzed again with another text message from Mitch. Nick picked up her phone and read it.
“Its ok my beautiful. I understand. I really want 2 c u again. I need u. When??????? Can I come over????”
Nick frowned a bit. In his head he was thinking what the hell is wrong with this dude. Desperate much? Nick thought to himself. So, he knows where she stays? So, maybe Sabrina knows more about Mitch than she is saying, Nick thought to himself.
“What do you want to drink? I have water, fruit juice, wine, and soda.” Sabrina said loudly while sticking her head in her refrigerator.
“Doesn’t matter.” Nick said deep in thoughts.
Seconds later, Sabrina walked over with a plate of tortilla soft bread wrap, filled with the fried chicken fajita. “Here you go.”
“Thanks.” Nick said grabbing the plate.
Sabrina placed a glass of wine down on the table for herself and then walked back into the kitchen getting Nick a glass of iced sprite soda. When she came back into the living room, Sabrina turned on the television and sat closely next to Nick crossing her legs. She began slowly rubbing Nick’s bare back as he sat up to be on the computer, while she sipped on her glass of wine. She watched Nick take his first bite. “Is it good?”
Nick nodded saying yes. He cleared his throat, “A little spicy.”
“Oh sorry. Cody likes the extra sauce I add in it sometimes. Sorry.” She sat up and kissed his cheek while still having her arm around him. “It’s still good. No problem.” Nick said with his mouth full.
Sabrina then took a couple of bites from his fajita.
“So uhm…how long did you say you know Mitch?” Nick asked without looking at her.
Sabrina took a sip of her wine before responding. “Uhm…a couple of years maybe.”
“Did you guys ever date?”
Sabrina slightly frowned as she looked at Nick. “No. Why?”
Nick took another bite of his fajita.
Sabrina rested her chin on his shoulder and looked at him as he ate.
Nick then asked, “Did you guys ever…you know…get intimate?”
Sabrina lifted her chin and narrowed her eyes at Nick. She snickered. “What are you talking about? Where is all of this coming from?”
“Has he ever been over here?”
Sabrina’s smile faded when she realized he wasn’t joking. Sabrina put her glass of wine down on the table and scooted over just a tad to sit away from him on the sofa where she could face him as she folded her arms. “Nick, what? He’s just a friend.”
“Im just asking.”
Sabrina continued to look at him as he continued eating.
Sabrina was about to let the subject go when Nick asked, “You mean..a friend like me…or what?”
“Nick, why don’t you just come out and say whatever it is that you want to say. What are you trying to say?”
Nick didn’t respond. Instead, he tossed her phone into her lap as if he had an attitude.
Sabrina read the last message Mitch left her. “You read my text message?”
“You say that as if you have a problem?”
“I told you it was okay for you to read my first message, not the second. What else have you done? Did you look thru my emails too?” Sabrina started to get up when Nick stopped her.
“Whoa. Don’t get up and walk away. Please.” He said calmly.
Sabrina sighed with frustration as she remained seated. “Nick, I don’t want to sit here and have an argument about this.” Sabrina said attempting to get up.
Nick grabbed her waist pulling her back down beside him saying calmly, “Sure you do. It’s what we do. We argue, and then kiss and make up.”
“What do you mean, it’s what we do?” Sabrina asked as she narrowed her eyes at Nick.
“We always argue. It’s like our thing.”
“No. We don’t always argue.”
“Yes we do.”
“No…we don’t.” Sabrina said starting to raise her voice.
“Yeah….we do.”
“No we don’t!”
“See what I mean?”
“We’re not arguing! We’re having a disagreement.” Sabrina said slowly lowering her voice.
“Argument, disagreement…it’s all the same thing.” Nick said remaining calm.
Sabrina couldn’t help but roll her eyes and smile a little.
“What, Nick?…what do you want to know?”
“I just want to know the depth of you guy’s relationship that—“
“Why? You don’t see me being nosey in your cell phone wondering what females you have calling or texting you?”
“I don’t.”
“Where’s your phone?”
“In the car. I was leaving earlier remember? But that’s not what we’re talking about right now.”
“What are we doing, Nick? What are we?”
Nick looked at her with a puzzled expression. “What do you mean?”
“Are we a couple? Or are we just friends? Because your jealousy is--”
“If Im telling you how much I love you and showing it to you…what do you think?” Nick asked sarcastically as he interrupted her.
Before Sabrina had a chance to respond, her doorbell rung. Nick and Sabrina exchanged glances. Sabrina stood up and walked to her window to discreetly look out the window. She saw Mitch’s car. “Holy shit.” Sabrina whispered to herself. She quickly turned to look at Nick. Nick was slightly frowning as if he already knew who was at her door. Sabrina started fidgeting with her hands.
“Who is it?” Nick asked.
“Please don’t say anything, okay? Just let me handle it.”
“Who is it?” Nick calmly repeated himself.
“It’s Mitch. Nick just go upstairs for a second. Please?”
“Hell no.”
“Well, just don’t say anything. Please.”
Mitch began knocking on her door impatiently.
“Just don’t say anything.” Sabrina whispered to Nick as she walked to her front door. Sabrina ran her fingers thru her slightly damp hair.
Sabrina opened the door only allowing half of her body to be exposed as she opened it. “Hi, what are you doing here?”
“Hi beautiful. I saw your car, and I was in the neighborhood, and you didn’t respond to my text right away so... I got worried. Im sorry to just pop up on you.” Mitch said with a smile.
“Awww, aren’t you sweet. No, im okay. Thanks for checking on me.”
“Are you really?” Mitch asked.
Nick sat on her sofa listening intently to every word Mitch was saying. He even turned the television down so he could hear him clearly.
“Yes, Im fine.” Sabrina replied with a smile.
“Then, if you are…do you mind if I come in? I have something I really need to talk to you about.”
“Oh..Mitch…right now is just not a good time.” Sabrina said pushing her hair behind her ear.
“Please?”
“Mitch, I can’t—“
Mitch stepped up to her door lightly pushing on it as if trying to come in. “I really…really need you.” He said sounding a bit aggressive.

Mitch stepped up to her door lightly pushing on it as if trying to come in. “I really…really need you.” He said sounding a bit aggressive.
_Nick quickly stood up and walked toward the door and gently
pushed Sabrina to the side and opened the door wider. Mitch was caught by
surprise when he was able to see that Sabrina was only wearing a gray t-shirt
and Nick was standing there only in his white boxers.
“What’s up? Mitch right?” Nick said firmly.
Sabrina looked down out of embarrassment as Nick now stood slightly behind her but more so right next to her.
“Hey, how’s it going?” Mitch said now talking in a more stand offish tone. He backed away from the door. “Yea, its Mitch. Nice to see you again...uh….” Mitch added trying to remember Nick’s first name.
“Oh, Im just a friend of the family.” Nick said with a smile as he wrapped his arm around Sabrina’s waist pulling her directly in front of him as he leaned down to kiss her on the neck. He gave her a light squeeze. “Right, baby?” he said in her ear loud enough for Mitch to hear as well.
Sabrina gave Mitch a faint smile as if to say ‘sorry’.
“I gotcha. Im sorry to have interrupted. I’ll see you around Sabrina.” He turned to walk away.
“I’ll call you later.” Sabrina yelled out to Mitch for him to hear her, however, Mitch kept walking.
Nick had walked away and sat back down on the sofa when Sabrina closed the door. She looked at Nick with a scowl on her face. “Nick, that was just rude.”
“It was rude for him to just pop up over here.” Nick said as he looked at the computer still trying to find a flight for him to go home. He finally booked a flight for later that night as Sabrina was speaking.
“Nick, you can’t keep acting so over bearing and over protective. I told you, he’s just a friend.”
“I just didn’t like the way he was acting. He was too desperate…”
“Maybe because he needed a friend.” Sabrina paused when she felt like Nick wasn’t really paying attention to her. She walked up to him and raised his chin so he could look away from the computer and look up at her. “Nick, Im serious.” She said softly. “I need you to trust me, to trust my instincts.”
Nick looked up at what he thought was her beautiful baby doll face. “Im just trying to protect you, like I promised your father that I would do.” Sabrina sighed as she looked down at Nick. She then leaned down giving him a soft kiss on his lips. “Thank you. But, can I tell you when I really need you? Like, for example, I really need you there on Monday when I go to court.” Sabrina smiled teasing him.
“Ahhh…there you go again.”
Sabrina giggled.
Nick smiled up at her and grabbed her waist moving her directly in front of him. “You know I would if I could.”
“I know.” Sabrina said softly as she rested her hands on his bare shoulders giving him a light massage.
Nick slid his hands under the t-shirt she was wearing to feel her bare soft skin as he began caressing her thighs and hips. “I booked my flight for tonight at 10:30. It was like the only reasonable flight I could find.” Nick said as he lustfully looked up into her eyes.
Sabrina nodded ‘okay.’
Nick took a slow deep breath as he continued to move his hands all over, caressing her body as she ran her fingers thru the back of his hair. “So that means…we have a few more long hours together.” He said slowly in a low tone with a grin.
Sabrina smiled down at him.
Nick grabbed her lilac colored lace panties and slowly began pulling it down over her hips. “Let’s take these off, shall we?”
Sabrina snickered as she allowed him to take off her panties. She held on to his shoulders for balance. Sabrina lowered herself down, sitting down on his lap straddling him. “You are so bad.” Sabrina stated quietly.
They began kissing and slowly deepened it. As they continued to kiss, Nick maneuvered themselves where he was now lying on top of her between her legs on the sofa. “Im sorry for being a jerk. Still love me?” Nick whispered only inches away from her lips.
“Yes, Nicholas…I still love you....I always will.” Sabrina said softly with a smile.
Nick immediately began kissing her dipping his tongue into her mouth. Sabrina wrapped her arms tightly around his neck as she hungrily kissed him back. Nick slid his hand down and pulled out his manhood from his boxers and penetrated Sabrina. Sabrina arched her back and immediately gasped with a sexual moan when she felt his well endowed manhood so quickly inside of her. They began moving in harmony as they had sex once again.
“What’s up? Mitch right?” Nick said firmly.
Sabrina looked down out of embarrassment as Nick now stood slightly behind her but more so right next to her.

_ Nick and Sabrina held hands as they walked thru the Hartsfield Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. Nick stood in the line for security check as Sabrina wrapped her arms around his torso. “Im gonna miss you Bri-bear.”
“Im going to miss you more.” Sabrina replied with a pleasant smile as she looked up at him.
Nick leaned down and gave her a quick kiss on her lips.
It wasn’t long before Nick would have to go thru the security gate detectors for each passenger. “Get home safe, okay? I will call you when I get home.” Nick said as he prepared to enter thru the gate.
“Okay.”
They kissed each other once again. Nick then trailed many quick kisses down to her neck making Sabrina laugh. They embraced each other tightly.
“Next please!” The security guard said clearly annoyed by the young couple’s public display of affection.
Nick pulled away nodding to the security. He turned his attention back to Sabrina and planted another kiss on her lips. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” Sabrina responded as Nick finally let go of her.
Sabrina stood there and watched him go thru the security gate. Once he was cleared, Nick turned around and waved at Sabrina from a distance. Sabrina smiled and waved back.
Sabrina hopped in her car and drove back to her home into the night.
Sabrina pulled her car around the back where she normally entered and exit her town home thru the kitchen. Sabrina took her time getting out of her car as she looked down at her keys and running her fingers thru her hair looking for her house key. As she walked up to the door that lead to her kitchen, she saw the door was cracked open. Sabrina abruptly stopped in her tracks with her eyes wide in fear.

Chapter 19
Open Door
_ Sabrina didn’t see any glass on the ground, and the window
on her door was not broken. Sabrina knew that she closed and locked the door
when her and Nick left to go to the airport. Sabrina became nervous and scared.
She started to go inside, but it was too dark and she wasn’t sure if someone
would be inside waiting for her or not. Sabrina slowly backed away and started
to look around. She looked next door to her neighbor and saw that there was no
one home. Sabrina pulled her cell phone out of her purse as she walked back to
her car still looking around.
“Hey Brin! Did Nick get on the plane safely?” Her aunt Kelly asked cheerfully answering the phone.
“Aunt Kelly, I think someone just broke into my house.” Sabrina said quietly still looking at her kitchen door left ajar.
“What?! Where are you now?”
"Im outside standing by my car. Im too scared to go inside.”
“Well don’t! Derek and I will be right over….”
Sabrina then heard her aunt speak to Derek in the background, “Brin thinks someone broke into her house.”
“Did she call the police?” Sabrina heard Derek ask in the background.
“Brin, you called the police already, right?”
“No. I called you first.”
“Sweetie, call the police.” Kelly said.
Sabrina then heard Derek say, “Tell her to wait in her car.”
Kelly quickly repeated what Derek just said to Sabrina. “We’re on our way! Call the police!”
“Okay.” Sabrina quickly hopped into her car and pulled away from the house parking a few feet away as she called the police.
Moments later, the police were investigating Sabrina’s home while her aunt, Kelly and Derek, were waiting on the outside with Sabrina.
“Are you sure you didn’t give an extra key to anyone?” an officer named Putnam asked Sabrina.
“No, no one has a key to my house except my aunt and my late father.” Sabrina responded.
“And my husband and I were at our home.” Kelly added.
“Well, there are no broken windows or broken locks. Looks like someone picked the lock to your door. And you say nothing was taken?”
“No. Nothing seems to be missing.” Sabrina replied with a concerned expression.
“Alright. They are still dusting for prints. We’ll let you know what we find if we do.”
Sabrina nodded ‘okay’.
Sabrina turned to Kelly. “Aunt Kelly, I am not staying here by myself.”
“C’mon let’s go pack your things. You’re going to stay over at our house.” Kelly responded as she escorted Sabrina into her home passing by other police officers.
Sabrina agreed.

Gainesville Florida, Airport
_ Nick claimed his baggage at the Gainesville, Florida
airport. He pulled out his cell phone getting ready to power it back on, to see
if Liam was there to pick him up. Before he could, Nick looked up briefly and saw a cute little
familiar girl.
“Daddy!!”
Nick smiled seeing his little girl running up to him. She jumped into his arms as he picked her up. “Hey my little pumpkin eater! What are you doing here?”
His daughter, Josslyn, wrapped her little arms around his neck as she kissed his cheek. “Auntie Miley brought me.” She said cheerfully.
“She did?” Nick asked more so in shock as he looked around for her.
There she was standing by the window with her arms folded waiting for Nick to walk towards her. Miley was Liam’s girlfriend…and she was also the sister of Josslyn’s mother, Joanna. Nick continued to carry Josslyn in his arms as he walked up to Miley. Miley smirked at him. “Im going to warn you right now, my sister, Joanna, is in the car.”
“Great.” Nick answered sarcastically giving Josslyn a fake silly smile.
Nick didn’t want to be bothered with Joanna, however, he didn’t want Josslyn to know how he really felt about her mother. Josslyn giggled and nuzzled her head into his neck. “Daddy you’re so silly.”
“And you should have been asleep in bed.”
As they walked outside of the airport and to the parking lot, Nick asked Miley, “What happened to Liam? I thought he was picking me up.” “He’s working late tonight.”
Nick didn’t respond. He only rested his head against Josslyn’s head as they walked to the car.
Everyone entered into Miley’s car in silence. Joanna was sitting in the front seat. Miley hopped into the driver seat as Nick sat in the back seat with Josslyn. As soon as Miley started to drive off, Joanna said, “So how was your little friend?”
Nick sighed quietly. “Thanks for coming along Joanna. So glad you could join for the ride.” Nick said sarcastically as he held Josslyn’s little hand.
“Daddy, look it! Mommy dyed her hair back to black.” Jossylyn said giggling.
Nick looked at the back of Joanna’s head. It was dark in the car and city lights weren’t really shinning bright enough for Nick to really notice Joanna’s hair color change. He simply responded, “Oh…I see.”
Joanna quickly changed the subject speaking to Nick. “My mom got called in to work tonight, and then Liam called Miley saying that you needed to be picked up from the airport. Miley and I were on our way to the club. So…we figure, we pick up Joss from my mom’s house, pick you up from the airport, drop you and Joss off at your house, and then Miley and I can be on our way to the club as planned.”
Nick shook his head out of annoyance. Joanna always put Joss off on her mother, Nick thought.
“You know I have to work tomorrow right?” Nick said.
“Duh.” Joanna responded. Joanna turned around to look at her daughter and smiled, “I’ll be by to pick her up before you leave for work tomorrow. Right Jossy-pooh?”
“Yes.” Josslyn replied sweetly and tiredly smiling back at her mother.
“Daddy!!”
Nick smiled seeing his little girl running up to him. She jumped into his arms as he picked her up. “Hey my little pumpkin eater! What are you doing here?”

NIck's apartment
_ It was now almost 2am in the
morning, and Miley finally pulled up to Nick’s apartment. Miley turned around
and asked, “Do you need some help?”
“Nah, I can get her.” Nick answered as he opened the door. “Thanks, Miles for picking me up.”
“No problem.”
Nick grabbed his bags and Josslyn’s overnight bag from out of the trunk of the car. He then grabbed a very sleepy Josslyn out of the back seat. Nick held Josslyn in his right arm and carried her overnight bag over his left shoulder while carrying his luggage. Joanna got out of the car and walked with Nick up to his apartment. Nick turned to look at Joanna with a puzzled expression.
Joanna saw his expression. “What? I want to say bye to my little girl.”
Nick didn’t respond. Instead he continued to walk up to the second floor to his apartment. As he walked, Joanna was busy trying to kiss Josslyn’s cheek as she laid her head on Nick’s shoulder. Nick was getting annoyed. “Do you mind? You’re putting more weight on me.”
“Do you mind? Im trying to kiss my baby.” Joanna said sarcastically.
“Then just take her.” Nick said frustrated.
Joanna attempted to grab Josslyn from Nick however, Josslyn began to whine not wanting to let go of Nick. “Joss, baby, come to mommy.”
Once again, Nick felt her bringing him down as he carried their bags. “Ok, just stop, Jo. I got it.”
“Well make up your fucking mind.”
Nick struggled a bit as he opened the door to his apartment. Once he opened it, Nick dropped his bags inside right next to the door. He didn’t care for Joanna to come inside his apartment. Nick turned around and handed Josslyn over to Joanna. Joanna kissed her daughter and said her goodbyes. As Nick stood there and watched Joanna with their daughter, he was able to notice what Josslyn was talking about as far as Joanna’s hair. She dyed her hair back to jet black. It reminded him a lot of how she looked when they were both in college. He noticed her dress and how she was obviously ready to go clubbing. Nick had to admit, she looked hot showing off her smooth tanned legs from her short purple dress.
Nick secretly hoped she wouldn’t go out to the club and have a one night stand and get pregnant by some poor horny guy. Similar to what happened with Nick 4 years ago when he went to the club hanging out with the fellas. Joanna was supposed to have been a one-night stand. However, Josslyn was created. A paternity test was performed and Nick was 99.9999% Josslyn’s father. Josslyn was the only thing Nick didn’t regret about Joanna. They created a beautiful little girl in one night filled with hot sex. They tried to be in a relationship when Nick found out that he was truly Josslyn’s father, but it just didn’t work. Instead, their routinely quickie sessions was the only thing they could settle for. Hearing Joanna speak reminded him of why they couldn’t get along and why he could never be in a relationship with her due to her consistently annoying him with her antics.
“Momma will see you tomorrow okay Jossy?”
Josslyn sleepily nodded her head ‘okay’.
Joanna handed Josslyn back over to Nick. “I’ll be over to pick her up about 5pm.”
“No, I have to work at 2pm, so you need to be here before then. Like way earlier.” Nick replied as Josslyn rested her head on his shoulder.
“I’ll just come over when I can.”
“Jo…Im tired, and I really don’t feel like arguing with you right now. I cannot be late for work, so either you be here early or I’ll drop her off at–“
“Where? At your little girlfriend’s house? I think not!” Joanna said interrupting Nick.
“What? What are you talking about?”
“Nick, don’t have some other bitch trying to raise or be around my daughter, do you understand me?”
Nick shook his head at her. He couldn’t believe what she was saying. “I think you started drinking too early tonight. I don’t have time for this.” “I don’t have time for you and all these bitches you have around my daughter.”
“If you’re not here by 1:15, Im taking Joss to your mom’s house.” Nick said ignoring Joanna’s last statement.
As Joanna still tried to speak, Nick shut his door in her face. It was something he was used to when it came to Joanna. He wasn’t sure why she worried about him having girlfriends when she always had different guys coming in and out of her house around Josslyn. However, she always denied it. Their relationship was truly dysfunctional.
Nick carried Josslyn into his 2 bedroom apartment and laid her down on her bed. He got out her pajamas from her night bag and put them on her. Josslyn was so sleepy she would sit there as if she were drunk. Nick couldn’t help but snicker at his sleepy daughter. Nick tucked her into her covers and leaned down kissing her cheek. “G’night Joss.”
“Good night daddy, I love you.” Joss said in her sleepy voice.
“Love you too, baby.” Nick said as he halfway closed up her door.
He then walked into his bedroom.
Nick was looking for his cell phone when his land line rung. “Hello?”
“Whaddup, bro?” It was Liam on the other end.
“Damn, thanks for sending Miley and her angry sister to pick me up at the airport. Where the hell were you?” Nick half heartedly teased him. Liam laughed. “My bad, man. I didn’t think Miley would bring her sister.”
“Dude, you knew she would bring Joanna.” Nick chuckled.
Liam laughed and then got serious. “Listen, I called to see if Sabrina was okay?”
“Yeah, she’s good. I mean, things could be better, but she’s okay.”
“I know who broke into her house.”
Nick frowned and froze. “What?”
Liam repeated himself.
Nick quickly responded, “No, I heard you, but what are you talking about?”
“What, you didn’t know?”
“Know what?” Nick then quickly grabbed for his cell phone turning the power back on to see if Sabrina had called him.
“Dude, that’s why I was asking how she was doing. I talked to Jacob a couple of hours ago. I was trying to call you, but I guess you turned your phone off for the flight .”
Nick didn’t respond, he waited impatiently for his phone to power on.
“Don’t ask me how he found out, but Jacob said he heard that Sabrina was going to testify against Zack in court. Roger and Paul were supposedly going to see if they could stop her from doing it by scaring her.”
“What!” Nick said angrily.
Nick’s phone was now powered on, however he didn’t see any missed calls. Liam started to say something else but Nick interrupted him saying, “I thought you said you tried to call. I don’t have a missed call.”
“Well I did, but your phone just rung and rung. I guess since you had it off, it didn’t pick up the calls.”
Nick thought about Sabrina and wondered if she tried to call him. “Are you telling me Roger and Paul broke into her apartment? Tonight?” “Jacob said they had someone in mind to try to talk her out of testifying against Zack. That makes me believe what you told me about them raping Sabrina even more. I mean, it sounds like they are scared.” Liam responded.
Nick was fuming upset. “Let me call you back.”
Nick immediately ended the call.
He quickly dialed Sabrina’s number.
“Hey.” Sabrina answered already acknowledging that it was Nick calling her.
“Baby, are you okay?” Nick rushed into the phone.
“Yeah, Im fine—“
“Where are you?”
“Im at my aunt Kelly’s house.”
“Did you call the police?”
Sabrina paused and hesitated. “Wait…how do you know –“
“Liam told me.”
“Liam? Liam’s there in Gainesville with you. How would he know?” Sabrina asked confused.
Nick told Sabrina what Liam told him. Sabrina was shocked. She became silent.
“Oh my God.” Sabrina fianlly said softly.
Nick sat down on his bed and leaned forward holding his head down as he held the phone to his ear. He wished he could wrap his arms around her at that moment. “Im so sorry I can’t be there right now with you.” Nick said in a low husky tone.
“Nick, Im scared. I mean…what were they going to do?”
“Baby, don’t let them scare you. Please don’t let them stop you from testifying.”
“This is just crazy.” Sabrina said in deep thoughts.
“Yeah. Call the police and tell them what I told you. Give them my number if you need to.”
Sabrina took a deep breath. “Nick, I miss you.”
“I miss you too.”
At that moment, Nick heard someone knocking at his door. “Baby, someone is at my door. Call the police and I will call you back.”
“Okay. I love you.”
“I love you too.” Nick said as he walked toward his door.
As Nick ended his call he opened the door to find Liam standing on the other side of the door.
“I figured you were talking to Sabrina so I just came over.” Liam said as Nick allowed him to enter inside.
“How in the hell did Jacob find out about all of this?” Nick asked angrily.
“Jacob is a punk. I thought about it and I think he overheard us talking when we were at the class reunion. Remember when you told me about how you went to the police station, and then talked to the attorney about Sabrina testifying against him?”
Nick nodded yes.
“I thought I heard somebody, and I bet your bottom dollar, that it was Jacob’s punk ass. You know he still talks to Zack and Roger…kissing their asses. They probably have been plotting this since the class reunion.”
Nick mumbled a curse. “Im so going to kick his ass the next time I see him.”
“You want me to call him?” Liam asked.
Nick was tired and he knew he had to go to work in a few hours since it was early Sunday morning. “Nah. I have to get some sleep. Im tired as hell.”
“Alright, cool. We’ll call him up tomorrow. Just hit me up.” Liam said giving Nick a fist bump as he prepared to leave.
Nick agreed and closed the door behind Liam as he left.
Nick grabbed his cell phone to call Sabrina back.
“Hey.” Sabrina answered her phone already acknowledging that it was Nick calling her.
“Hey baby, are you okay?” Nick said tiredly.
“Yes.”
“What did the police say?”
“They said they would look into it and let me know something.”
Nick tsked. “Assholes.”
“Nick, you sound tired.”
Nick yawned. “I am. I just wanted to make sure you were okay. Do me a favor and stay close to Kelly and Derek. Please?”
Sabrina smiled. “I love you, Nicholas Lancaster.”
Nick smiled. “I love you Sabrina Cain. Now will you promise me that you will stay very close to them. Please?”
Sabrina giggled. “Babe, I promise.”
Nick smiled. “Good. Talk to you later, G‘night.”
“Good night.”
Part II
Nick & Joanna
_It was 8:30am in the morning when Nick heard his phone
ringing loudly. He groaned as he reached for his phone to answer it. With his
eyes still closed, Nick answered in his groggy voice, “Hello?”
“Hey, it’s me. Im outside.”
Nick popped open his eyes and recognized the voice he heard on the other end. It was Joanna.
“Yeah.” Nick replied in a raspy deep voice and hung the phone back on the reciever.
Nick slowly got out of his bed and picked up his dark gray sweat pants. As he walked toward his door, he stepped into his sweat pants pulling it over his red boxers and yawning. Nick opened the door to find Joanna standing on the other side of his door. He walked away leaving the door open for Joanna to come inside. Joanna walked inside as her eyes roamed up and down his bare muscular chest and abs. Closing the door behind her, Joanna asked sarcastically, “What? No good morning, Jo? Glad you’re here early.”
Nick yawned once again as he grabbed Josslyn’s overnight bag from off the floor in his living room.
Joanna watched him move about. “Hellooo?” Joanna said sarcastically waiting for him to respond.
“You’re here too early if you ask me.” Nick said flatly in his scratchy voice without looking at her.
Nick was too tired to even try to entertain her since he was only working on a minimum of 4 hours sleep. Nick started to walk to the back to get Josslyn, when Joanna stopped him. “Hey, can we talk for a second?”
Nick stopped walking and slowly turned around to face her as he placed his hands on his waist. He looked slightly annoyed.
“Is Joss still sleeping?” Joanna asked softly.
“Peacefully like I wish I was.” Nick said flatly.
“Can we sit?” Joanna said gesturing for him to take a seat at his small dining table.
Nick walked over to the table and sat down folding his forearms across the glass table. Joanna sat across from Nick as she intently stared at Nick. She cleared her throat. “I’ve been thinking.” She paused and continued, “Have you ever noticed how happy Joss is when we are together? And not fighting?”
Nick stared blankly at Joanna.
“Well she is, Nick. I love to see her so happy. And truth be told…I want to be happy too.”
Nick remained silent as he attempted to rub the sleepiness off of his face and trying to be patient waiting for her to get to her point.
“I think we should push past this love-hate relationship we have. We’re like sex buddies…and then we hate each other the next minute. We put on this show in front of Joss…and…aren’t you tired of that?”
Nick raised his left brow in deep thoughts. He then finally said, “What the hell are you trying to say, Jo?”
“I think we should give it another try.” Joanna stared at Nick.
Nick frowned slightly. “Give what another try?”
“Us! I mean…look at my sister Miley and Liam. They are so cute together. They get along well with each other…and they don’t even have a kid but they get along because they want to, ya know? Nick that’s what I want with us. Last night, I looked at all those losers in the club and I realized that none of them even compare to what me and you can have.”
Nick frowned and slowly stood up. “Jo…I don’t know what you’re up to…but this is not you. Im going to get Joss.”
Joanna quickly stood up and rushed up to Nick pushing him up against the wall. “Nick, Im serious. We have a beautiful daughter…can you imagine what our other kids will look like.” Joanna smiled as she gently glided her hands over his chest.
Nick grabbed her hands pulling them away from him. He narrowed his eyes at her. “Are you still hung over from last night?”
Joanna frowned smacking her teeth and snatching her hands away from Nick. “Stop being such an asshole. Im being serious.”
“I know…and that’s pretty scary.” Nick slightly chuckled.
Joanna rolled her eyes at Nick. She then looked down at his sweatpants and gently tugged on the draw strings of his pants. “I can show you how serious I am.” Joanna said flirtatiously.
“Cut it out, Jo.” Nick said calmly and walked away from her toward Joss’s bedroom.
Joanna huffed in anger as she folded her arms. “Nick! Im pregnant!”
Nick stopped walking and felt his heart drop down into his stomach. Why is she telling him? He thought. It can’t be his.
“Nick?” he could hear her call to him in a low voice.
He didn’t bother to respond. Instead he continued to walk into Josslyn’s bedroom and gently woke her up.
“Pumpkin, guess what?”
Josslyn rubbed her eyes as she woke up. “What?”
“Mommy’s here to pick you up.” Nick smiled as he pulled the covers away from around her.
Josslyn pouted. “Noooo, daddy. I wanna stay wit chuuu.” She started to whine.
“Hey now.” Nick said as he picked her up holding her in his arms as he embraced her. He felt her wrap her arms tightly around his neck. “I love you too, pumpkin. But you know Daddy has to work the next couple of days.” He then had to literally pry her arms off from around his neck. “What if I said on Thursday, I come pick you up and you spend the whole weekend with me. Just you and me. We can do whatever you want to do. How does that sound?”
Josslyn continued to pout yet she slowly nodded her head okay. She then stuck her index finger up into her nose as if she were digging for treasure.
Nick chuckled. “Ew, Joss, that’s just nasty.”
Josslyn immediately started laughing as she kept her finger in her nose.
Nick stood up still holding her in his arms. “Now who’s being silly?”
Josslyn giggled saying, “Me!”
“Just don’t pull anything out and rub it on me.”
Josslyn laughed her cute little laugh as she kept her finger in her nose while Nick carried her into the living room with Joanna.
Joanna smiled widely when she saw Josslyn. Her smile quickly faded when she saw Josslyn digging up her nose as Nick carried her into the livingroom. “Ew, honey…what are you doing?” Joanna asked with a disgusted expression.
Josslyn smiled and reached for Joanna. “Hi mommy!”
Joanna grabbed Joss into her arms. She kissed her cheek. “Hungry?”
“Mm-hmm. McDonalds please. Annnnd…daddy said he’s going to come get me on Thursday and I can spend the whoooollleeee weekend with him.” Josslyn smiled.
“That’s great baby. Considering how its your daddy’s weekend to have you anyway.” Joanna said sarcastically as she glared at Nick. “But daddy forgot that he’s supposed to get you on Friday…not Thursday.” She added as she grabbed Joss’s overnight bag putting it over her shoulder.
“Yeah, well…maybe I can get her on Thursday instead.” Nick said flatly.
Joanna continued to glare at Nick. “So nothing, huh? You’re just not going to respond to what I just told you.”
“Congratulations.” Nick said flatly.
Joanna frowned. “That’s it? That’s all you have to say?”
“What do you want me to say, Jo?” Nick asked calmly.
“Something is different about you…not sure what…but it is. Your little trip out of town must have been great.”
“Yeah…it was.” Nick faintly smiled thinking about Sabrina.
“Well, I hope you had fun, because now your going to have more responsibility here so you can’t afford to go out of town.” Joanna said opening the door.
“What are you talking about? It’s not mine. I don’t have any other responsibilities than this cute little girl right here.” Nick said as he slowly smiled pinching Josslyn’s cheek.
Josslyn smiled cutely. “Bye daddy! See you Thursday!” Josslyn said interrupting their conversation.
Nick continued to smile as he brought his attention to Joss. He walked up to her as she sat in Joanna’s arms. He kissed her cheek, “Bye pumpkin eater, see you then.” He then pretended to munch on her cheek making her laugh.
“Daddy!” she managed to say thru her giggles.
“Im going to pretend I didn’t hear that first part. It’s yours, Nick!” Joanna said firmly as she stared at Nick. She then turned to leave out of Nick’s apartment. “Say bye to your father.” Joanna said to Joss as they walked out of his apartment.
Josslyn smiled showing her dimples and waved bye to Nick.
Nick smiled and waved back.
His smile slowly faded when Joanna walked further away from him with Josslyn. Nick mumbled a curse thinking about what Joanna said about her being pregnant. She had pulled this stunt before when she really wasn’t pregnant. She did it to get attention from Nick. But this time Nick wasn’t going to fall for it. However, she looked more convincing today the same way she did when she told him she was pregnant with Joss. Could it be true? Nick said another curse as he walked back into his apartment slamming the door at the thought.
-----------
“Hey, it’s me.

-----------
_ It was now about 12:30am early Monday morning. Nick had not
long ago got back home from work and he had just hopped out of the shower when
he heard his cell phone ring. The caller id read Sabrina.
Nick smiled. “Hey baby, what are you doing still up?” Nick answered.
“Hi. Did I catch you at a bad time?” Sabrina answered in a soft tone.
“No, you’re good. I just got out of the shower,” Nick said wrapping a towel around his waist.
“So how was work?”
“Long. Tiring. I missed you.”
Sabrina smiled. “I miss you too.”
“Brin, it’s late. You should be sleeping. When is your flight down to Orlando?”
“In a few more hours. I can’t sleep. Im getting so nervous.”
“Don’t be. You’ll be fine.”
Sabrina sighed. “I hope so.” Sabrina paused and continued, “I just wish you were going to be there.”
“Brin…”
“I know. Im just saying.”
“Demi, Kelly and Derek will be there for you, so, you will be fine.”
“Well, change of plans. Derek is going to stay here and take Cody to school and Raven will be coming with us down to Orlando.”
“Girl power. That’s what’s up.” Nick chuckled.
Sabrina giggled. “Yeah, I guess.”
At that moment, Nick’s land line began to ring. Sabrina could hear his phone ringing. She was shocked to know his phone was ringing that late at night. “Who’s calling you at this time of night?”
Nick looked at the caller id which read Liam. “It’s just Liam. I’ll call him back.”
“No, it’s okay. You can answer it. I should probably get some sleep anyway. I have a big day in court tomorrow…” Sabrina paused and looked at the clock sitting on the night stand which read 12:43am. She continued correcting herself, “…or should I say today, since it’s already Monday.”
“If you want to talk, Im not getting off the phone with you to talk to Liam.” Nick laughed. “Are you crazy?” he teased her.
Sabrina laughed. “I love you, Nicholas.”
“I love you too, Bri-bear.”
“I’ll try to call you tomorrow during your lunch break, okay?”
“Okay…” Nick said as they said their goodbyes.
Nick managed to end the call with Sabrina just in time to answer Liam’s call on the last ring before he hung up. “Hello?” Nick rushed into the phone.
“Dude, what the hell are you doing?”
“I was on the phone with Sabrina. Why? What’s up?” Nick said putting on his black boxers.
“Yo, Im about to pull some chick shit off and call Jacob’s punk ass on three-way. You are not going to believe the shit he just told me.”
Nick became serious. “Call him.”
Nick smiled. “Hey baby, what are you doing still up?” Nick answered.
“Hi. Did I catch you at a bad time?” Sabrina answered in a soft tone.

Liam & Jacob Lautner
_ Liam click over and dialed Jacob’s number and clicked back
over just in time for Nick to hear their conversation. They both waited patiently
for Jacob to answer the phone.
“Hello?” answered a female’s voice.
Both Liam and Nick frowned not sure of the voice who answered Jacob’s phone. “Uh…is this…Victoria?” Liam asked with hesitation. “Yeah. Liam? Hi!” Victoria answered with a smile.
Liam frowned wondering why she would be answering Jacob’s phone. “Hey…uhm…is Jacob available?”
“Liam, it’s like really late.” Victoria said with a slight rasp in her voice. “Riiiight…is he available?”
Both Nick and Liam could hear her sigh. “Hold on. Jacob, hunny…telephone.”
Liam rolled his eyes. He hated how she tried so hard to let it be known that her and Jacob were this fantastic couple when they really weren’t.
After several minutes, Jacob finally comes to the phone. “Yeah?” he answers.
“Jacob, it’s me Liam. What the hell are you doing, dude? I told you I had to take a leak and I was calling you right back.”
“Damn, I was in the shower. I just got home from work. What’s up?”
“Man, what’s this bullshit about Roger, Zack and Sabrina you were telling me about. I couldn’t really hear you because I was at work too.”
Jacob chuckled. “Oh yeah. Well, I just got off the phone with Paul. Paul was pissed off ‘cause their little plan didn’t work. Some dude named Mitch was supposed to keep her from leaving to Orlando, you know for the court date, but dude fucked it all up somehow.” Jacob said as he began chuckling again.
“What?” Nick said to himself in anger. Fortunately Nick had put his phone on mute so Liam nor Jacob could hear his response. Surely he wasn’t talking about Sabrina’s friend, Mitch…was he? Nick wondered.
“Who the hell is Mitch?” Liam asked quickly.
“Oh, I don’t know. Some guy that Zack knew.” Jacob paused and then continued as if he suddenly remembered. “Oh, yeah I know, Zack’s cousin, Josh, knew Mitch when they went to college together.”
“So…Mitch broke into Sabrina’s house?”
“Well…Im not really sure. Paul said they just told Mitch to scare her where she wouldn’t want to testify. So then, Sabrina started staying at her fine ass aunt’s house. But she’s married to some military dude, and nobody is trying to get hurt dealing with that dude.” Jacob finished as he started chewing on what sounded like an apple.
“That’s crazy.”
“Yeah, I know. Zack even wants me to testify in court. Pretty much tell the truth how that bitch Maria is calling wolf about him raping her.”
“You still don’t think he raped that girl, huh?”
“Nope. Zack is like my brother. Liam, you know us mighty dolphins have to stick together.”
“Dude that was way back in our high school days. You gotta let that stuff go.”
“Nah. We protect each other…”
“Let me ask you this. Do you think he raped Sabrina?”
“Nope. Dude, that was soooo long ago.” Jacob smirked.
“Why would they try to stop her from testifying then?”
Jacob was silent for a second. Liam thought his call had dropped as he looked at the phone.
Then Jacob finally responded, “Listen. We are the NorthSide High Mighty Dolphins football team and the best of Class of 2001. We stick together, always. Bros before hoes, dude.”
Liam shook his head. “Alright, man…well I gotta go.”
“Hey, since you’re already in Gainesville and only live like an hour or so away from Orlando, you should come to support Zack. Everyone’s gonna be there.”
“Everyone, like who?” Liam asked in shock.
“Pretty much the whole football team. I don’t know about Nick. You talk to him more than I do. Nick will probably be on Sabrina’s side since he been trying to get in her panties and get in that pus—“
“Chill out, Jacob.” Liam said as if giving Jacob a warning not to talk about his best friend, Nick.
Jacob laughed. “You know Im right. That’s just how the ‘ladies man’, Nick Lancaster is. He been trying to get at the girl since only God knows when!” Jacob laughed out loud.
“Whatever, man…Im out.” Liam said flatly ending the call.
Before Liam finished his call with Nick, he made sure Jacob’s call on the line had truly ended. Nick took his phone off mute enraged.
“Nick, you there?” Liam asked into the phone.
“I am going to kick his ass. So many things I wanted to say to that son of a bitch! And what does he mean the whole football team will be there?”
“I guess they’re going to support Zack.”
“Yeah…well…there’s some change of plans. Im driving down to Orlando.”
“I thought you had to work tomorrow?” Liam asked stunned.
“I do. Im calling out. I have a couple of reasons in needing to be down in Orlando. To support Sabrina and to kick Jacob’s ass.”
“Nick, don’t go losing your job doing something stupid.” Liam said shaking his head.
“It’s just one more day off. My boss, Jay, won’t mind.” Nick said in deep thoughts.
“Are you going to tell Sabrina what Jacob said?”
Nick hesitated before responding. “No. I don’t need her to be any more nervous than she already is. I don’t need anything to make her have any second thoughts.”
“Bro, I would come with you, but I can’t afford to call out on my job.”
“It's all good. I got this.”
