Chapters 1 - 4
Nick walks thru the door loosening his tie and placing his
briefcase on the kitchen table. His stomach suddenly made a growling sound
reminding him that he was hungry. He looked over at the stove and noticed there
was nothing cooking. He walked over to the oven and noticed nothing was baking.
He shook his head out of disappointment. “I guess she didn’t cook…again.” Nick
mumbled as he took off his suit jacket. He walked into the living room and
noticed no one was there. The house seem so empty. He wondered where his family
could be. “Selena!” He yelled as he jogged upstairs. He burst thru the nursery
bedroom door, “Sel?” he called out loudly.
“Shhh! I just put the baby to sleep.” Selena said cradling their 5 month old baby girl. Nick made an expression as if to say, ‘oops, sorry.’ He quietly watched his wife rise to her feet from the rocking chair and carry their sleeping baby to her crib. Selena’s hair was in a loose ponytail and she wore Nick’s over sized flannel shirt and sweat pants. She looked tired, Nick thought. He quietly walked over to the crib standing next to Selena as he bent down to kiss their baby’s forehead. He then turned his attention to Selena. He was about to embrace her when she walked away putting away some of the nursery toys for their daughter Nina. The baby is named after both Nick and Selena; Nick’s first two letters of his name and Selena’s last two letters of her name. When Selena walked away from Nick, he sighed as he put his hand on his hip in a manly fashion. “How was your day, hunny?”
Folding up blankets and towels, Selena responded without looking at Nick, “Loaded. I couldn’t get any of my homework done. I had to do...” her voice trailed off. Selena attended nursing school before she got ‘knocked up’, as their friends liked to call it. She dropped out for a while in order to have the baby. Nick and Selena conceived their daughter on their wedding night. They basically didn’t have any time to themselves before Nina arrived. They have now been married for just over a year. Selena now 21 yrs old and her husband, Nick, 24 yrs old, were living in her late parent’s home. Both of Selena’s parents and younger brother passed away in a plane crash a few weeks after her wedding. Selena and Nick’s marriage has had its problems and rifts, but they are constantly trying to make things work, especially now with their baby in their lives. Putting away more toys, Selena asked Nick, “So anyway, enough about me. How was your meeting with the boss? Did you get that promotion or what?”
Walking over to Selena to help her put things away, he softly responded with a smile, “Things went great. I got the promotion.”
Selena stopped and looked up at Nick. “Really? That’s great” Selena smiled and nudged his arm. She then walked out of the nursery room and headed down stairs. Nick followed her as he quietly closed the door to the nursery behind him. “Uhm, I was thinking maybe we could celebrate. You know, like call a sitter and go out for dinner or something.” Nick followed Selena into the kitchen. He continued mumbling, “Since you didn’t cook…again.”
Selena huffed, “Nick, what did I tell you about putting your briefcase on the table?” she handed Nick his briefcase. Once Nick grabbed his briefcase from her, Selena walked away from him and walked to the cabinet grabbing a wine glass.
“Sel, did you hear me? I said let’s call a sitter and go out for dinner.” Nick repeated slightly frustrated.
“A sitter, Nick? I rather call and order a pizza or something. Besides, like I said, I have homework to do.” Selena grabbed a bottle of wine and started to pour it in her glass. She then started to walk away from Nick once again. Nick stopped her by placing his hand on her stomach. Selena stopped as she looked at Nick wondering what he wanted.
“I missed you. I haven’t seen my wife all day. I come home and I don’t get a hug or kiss or anything?” Selena took a sip of her wine as she looked up at Nick. She then hugged him lightly and quickly stood on her toes giving Nick a quick kiss on his cheek. “Im sorry. Is that better?” Selena pulled away from him to walk away. Nick stopped her again.
“A peck on the cheek? That’s all I get?” he grabbed her waist and pulled her close to him. He grabbed the glass of wine from Selena and took a couple of gulps. Selena watched him drink up her wine. “Hey! Get your own.” She whined. Nick placed the empty wine glass on the kitchen counter and smirked as he continued to look into Selena’s eyes. He held Selena’s face and started to kiss her lips tenderly. As their kiss grew hungrier for each other, Nick slid his fingers into Selena’s hair allowing her ponytail to fall apart. Nick backed Selena up toward the kitchen counter as they continued to kiss passionately. His hands started to roam down Selena’s body. Selena slightly began to moan softly, “Nick, c’mon. Cut it out. I don’t have time for this.” Ignoring her protest, Nick picked Selena up and placed her down on top of the counter as they continued to kiss and ravish each other. Thru the kisses, Nick whispered breathlessly, “Mmm, I missed you. I need you… bad.” Selena tangled her fingers thru Nick’s curly hair. Nick’s kisses trailed down her neck as he started to unbutton his flannel shirt that Selena was wearing. Suddenly, Nina started to cry out loudly upstairs in the nursery room. Selena and Nick stopped kissing once they heard Nina. Selena pushed Nick away, “Sorry, but you’re daughter needs me more.” She slid off the kitchen counter and rushed to the aid of Nina. Nick sighed out of sexual frustration and buttoned his pants closed.
Hours later, Nick hopped out of the shower and threw on his boxers. He walked into the bedroom to see Selena sitting up in bed with her school books and papers surrounding her. There was barely enough room for Nick to crawl into the bed next to her. Nick walked over to the bed and started to gently remove her books and papers to the side so he could get into the bed.
“STOP! What are you doing?” Selena said almost freaking out that he touched her school work. “Im trying to get into bed so I can get some sleep.” Nick said frozen in shock at Selena’s reaction. “Well, you’re screwing up everything. I had this stuff laid out in a specific order, and now, by you moving it, you just messed everything up.” Selena sat up and reached over toward Nick, snatching her paperwork away from him.
“Well why would u have this shit in bed anyway ,Sel? Did you forget I needed a place to sleep?” Nick said angrily. “You could have just waited, Nick, dammit!” Selena argued as she still tried to gather her school work back in order. “Forget it, Sel.” Nick said as he walked out of their bedroom. Nick stopped down the hall to check on the baby. Nina was sound asleep. Nick then walked into the guest room and laid down on the smaller bed. He couldn’t believe how Selena had been acting for the past few months since she started school again. He thought maybe it was just stress. Selena hadn’t really shown Nick any affection in weeks. They only have sex if Nick pressures her, or just when he thinks Sel wants to have sex, Nina unknowingly interrupts them. Nick thought maybe it was just the way married life was and will be.

Introducing Baby Girl Nina (Nick & Selena's 5 month old)
Chapter 2
The next morning, Nick changed Nina’s diaper and placed her
in the play pen after kissing and playing with her for a while. Nick then stood
in the mirror and put on his tie. Selena stepped out of the bathroom with a
towel wrapped around her wet body. Nick
saw her reflection in the mirror. “Hey, hun, I just changed Nina’s diaper and
fed her a little. Im about to head off to work.” He turned to look at Selena as she walked
over to Nina in her play pen. She cooed with Nina as she leaned down to pick
her up. “Hey mommy’s pumkin. Did daddy put the diaper rash powder on you?”
Nick rolled his eyes and grabbed his briefcase. “Yes, he did.” He answered walking over to Selena and Nina. He kissed Nina’s cheek and then kissed Selena’s cheek. “I should be home about 6pm. I’ll call you before I come home to see if you want take out again…or whatever.” Selena didn’t respond. Nick turned and walked away. Just as he left the bedroom he yelled back, “I love you.”

Morning rush hour traffic led Nick to be about 30 min late
for work. As soon as he stepped off the elevator, he ran into his boss. “Glad
you could finally join us this morning, Nick.” His boss, Mr. George Clooney said as
he placed his arm around Nick’s shoulder. “Sorry sir, morning rush hour traffic
sucks.” Nick said hoping he wasn’t in trouble on his first day of his promoted
day.
“I’ll let you slide this morning, Nick.” George said with a smile. He continued, “besides, your new office wasn’t quite ready yet anyway...but it is now. Allow me to show you to your new office.”
Nick was shocked. He didn’t think he was getting a new office. The door to his office had his name plated on the door. George led him inside a nice secluded office with a view of the Los Angeles Bay. It was beautiful. George stood there as he admired Nick’s awe and beautiful sight of the city. “What do you think, son?” George asked with his hands in his pants pocket. Nick walked to his glass table top desk and placed his briefcase on the floor next to the desk. “Wow, sir. I don’t know what to say.” George started to chuckle. “A simple thank you will suffice. You have no idea how many veterans working here are going to hate you for having this office.”
Nick laughed. “Thank you sir.” George waved him off as if to say no problem. He then replied, “You will be working closely with me now. But I have a lot of faith in you, young man. You’re a young man with big responsibilities now. That means you will need an assistant.” George cleared his throat loudly as if cueing someone to walk into Nick’s office to join them.
A young female wearing a black pinstriped pencil skirt, a matching black pinstriped blazer with a pink undershirt, and black stiletto heels walked in. Her hair was pulled up in a tight bun as she wore her eyeglasses on top of her head. She stood next to George with a smile plastered on her face. George smiled as if he were a proud father. “Nick, meet Cindy Cyrus, the best administrative assistant in the world.” Cindy started to giggle and playfully hit George’s arm. “Oh, uncle George.” She blushed.
George chuckled. “Oh yea, and she’s my beautiful niece too. She is very dependable. I know she can help keep you in place, as I trust you, Nick, to remain in place at all times.”
Cindy smiled as she stepped up to Nick extending her hand to greet Nick. Nick stepped up to her as well extending his hand for the handshake. “Nice to meet you, Cindy. Im sure it will be a pleasure to work with you.”
Holding his hand longer than a regular handshake, and longingly looking into Nick’s chocolate orbs, she replied with a smile, “Likewise.”

Chapter 3
It had been a long first day of Nick’s new position. He
called Selena as he wrapped things up in the office to head home. Selena
answered after Nick allowed the phone to ring 5 times. “Hey baby…everything
okay?” Nick responded into the phone.
“Yeah, why do you ask?” “You took
a while to answer the phone…I got worried.” Nick replied. “Im fine. Im sorry I can’t get to the phone
quick enough for you.” She responded in a sarcastic tone, “You’re daughter was
throwing a fit. I had to calm her down.”
Nick was taken back by her attitude and sarcasm. “Well, is she
alright?” “Do you hear her crying now?”
she asked in a nasty tone. Nick didn’t hear Nina crying. Nick decided not to
answer the question or get an attitude back because it would just be an
argument waiting to happen that he didn’t feel like getting into. “You want me
to pick up something to eat on my way home?” Nick asked changing the subject.
“No. I cooked.” Selena answered in a matter of fact tone. “Really?” Nick was surprised. “What did you
cook?” “Nothing special. I just threw on
some hamburger helper. It was something quick. If you don’t want it, you can go
get you something.” As Nick was
listening to Selena talk, Cindy knocked on Nick’s open door before entering
into his office. Nick waved for her to come in. Cindy smiled as she walked
closer to Nick and stood in front of his desk waiting patiently for him to get
off the phone. Nick spoke into the phone, “No, its fine. No worries. I will be
home shortly. I love you.” Nick ended the call.
Handing over a file folder to Nick, Cindy smiled and said, “The misses?” Nick took the folder from Cindy and smiled back, “Yeah. Thanks.” “You’re welcome. So I just wanted you to know that I was leaving for the day. Is there anything you need before I go?” Cindy asked. “No. Im good. Thanks. I really appreciate your help today. You made my day go by smoothly.” “Awesome. Good to know I did my job.” She smiled a flirty smile. Nick found himself staring at Cindy as he noticed her beautiful smile. He quickly snapped out of his daze and continued to pack up his things in his office so he can go home.
“You know my uncle never said I was going to be working for such a nice and good looking guy. I hope you don’t mind me asking, but he told me that you were a family man. But you’re so young…how’s that life treating you?” Cindy asked as she leaned down with her palms resting on Nick’s desk. “Nah, I don’t mind. Its called being young and in love.” Nick smiled. He continued, “what, you mean you don’t want to be married or have kids?” Cindy stood up straight as she laughed. “Oh, yeah when Im 30 or something! Im only 23 years old. Im still paying on my college loans!” Nick laughed. “I hear ya.” Nick had packed all his things and stood up from his chair. “Everybody’s different, ya know.”
“Yes, indeed.” Cindy said as she stared at Nick. Nick found himself staring back into her blue eyes. There was an awkward silence. “Well, listen,” Cindy said breaking the silence, “my uncle talks about you like you’re his son and ur the best thing this company has ever had. So with that said, we have to celebrate and welcome you to the team one day. Lunch, dinner…whatever. You can even bring the misses along.” “Wow, that’s great. Yeah ur uncle is really an outstanding guy. Very intimidating but I like him.” Nick and Cindy laughed. “But yeah a celebration would be great.” Nick said as the awkward silence followed. “Awesome. So I guess I will see you tomorrow, boss man.” Cindy smiled and swayed her hips as she exited Nick’s office. Nick’s eyes followed her backside as she walked away.
----------
Nick found himself eating dinner by himself as Selena was in their bedroom with her school paperwork spread out across the bed once again. Nina had fallen asleep laying next to him as he sat on the sofa watching tv. After finishing his meal, Nick carried the baby to her crib. Nick walked to the bedroom where Selena was. Nick stood at the doorway looking at Selena as she was studying deep into her school work. “Hey, Im going to go to sleep. Nina is sleep…so, good night.” He then started to walk away. “So what, are you going to sleep in the guest room again?” she started to put her school work away. “Well, yeah. This seems to be your habitat…so…” “Nick, stop, ok. Just come to bed. I don’t want to have to hear you bitchin about it to your brother later.” Nick paused as he remembered talking to his brother Joe earlier in the night. She must have overheard his conversation. However Nick didn’t think he was bitching about it…he just wanted to be able to sleep in his queen size bed instead of a twin size bed. “So you’re eaves dropping on phone conversations now?” Nick asked as he walked further into the bedroom. “You were talking loud enough Nick, I think our next door neighbors heard you. I get it okay. Look, im putting everything away. Happy now?” Selena said with an attitude as she gathered her papers.
Nick didn’t respond. He took off his t-shirt and sweat pants leaving just his boxers on and crawled into the bed pulling the covers over him. Wearing a large oversized night gown, Selena turned the light off and slid back into bed next to Nick with her back turned to him. “Sel…is everything okay?” Nick asked looking at the back of her head.
“Yes.” She said quickly. “Are you sure? I mean…u just seem different.” Selena rolled her eyes without Nick noticing. “Im just tired okay. I have a lot going on. The baby, and going to nursing school. It’s a lot of hardwork. Taking these online courses are even harder.” Nick moved closer to Selena in a spooning position. He wrapped his arm around her. He softly spoke in her ear. “Have you thought about dropping a few classes?” Selena adjusted herself to lay on her back so she could face Nick. “What? No. I can’t. I need all the classes Im taking. I don’t have time to drop classes. Clearly you have no idea what I have to do Nick.” She said getting angry. “I was only making a suggestion Sel, geez. You get so angry so quickly all the time. Its starting to piss me off.” Nick said as he laid on his back looking up at the ceiling. He continued, “I mean damn…its like you’re on ur period every fucking day.” Selena sat up on her elbow looking at Nick, “Excuse me?” “Never mind.” Nick said and turned on his side allowing his back to face Selena. “What, Nick? What do you want from me, huh? Im doing the best that I can, alright?” she said loudly with frustration. Nick turned towards her, “I know you do, baby. I just –“ Selena interrupted him saying, “Then what’s the problem? You want sex? Is that it?” “What? No…well…kind of…I mean…damn Sel, we haven’t had sex in almost a month! Instead of arguing right now, yes, we could be having sex, but instead we’re wasting time and energy arguing over something dumb.” Nick responded. “Me going to school is not dumb. You know what Nick…why don’t you go to the guest room and sleep. Its best for the both of us.” Selena said angrily. “What?” Nick sat up in disbelief. “Nick, just go alright.” Selena said with an attiude. “Unbelievable.” Nick mumbled as he got out the bed. He grabbed his pillow and walked out of the bedroom.

Chapter 4
Nick walked out of the conference room with his boss
George laughing and talking about how good their morning meeting just went.
“Let’s do lunch, Nick. Im starved.”
“Sounds great! You’re treat right?” Nick joked. Let’s talk about that in
25 min when I meet you down stairs in the lobby.” George laughed as he patted
Nick on the back. Nick smiled as he walked back to his office. He passed Cindy’s
desk smiling and winking at her as she looked up at him. She smiled and winked
back. As soon as he sat down at his desk, Cindy beeped in on his phone line.
“Wsup, Cindy?” Nick answered via speaker phone. “The misses called while you
were in the meeting. She needs you to call her back a.s.a.p.” Cindy responded.
“Thanks.” Nick said. He then picked up the phone receiver on his desk and
proceeded to dial his home to speak to Selena. “Hey baby, what’s up?” “I need you to come right home after work
today.” Selena rushed into the phone. “Why? What’s wrong?” Nick asked
concerned. “I am meeting up with a study group tonite and I am not taking the
baby with me. So hurry up and come home, okay? “ “Ooo-kayy.” Nick said slowly, as if he really
had a choice not to hurry and come home. “Alright, I gotta go.” Selena hung the
phone up before Nick had a chance to tell her he loved her. Hearing the dial
tone in his ear, Nick slowly lowered the phone back onto the receiver. At that
moment there was a knock on the door. Nick called for the person to enter into
his office. It was Cindy. She was wearing
with her hair pulled back in a slick ponytail and wearing
her stylish silver eye glasses. “Hey,
Nick, ready to go eat? My uncle George said he would meet us at the
restaurant.” Nick smiled and nodded.
“Great! I’ll drive.” She said as she winked.
“Great! I’ll drive.” She said as she winked.
Nick hopped into Cindy’s car. “Nice car.” he said as she let
the top down to her convertible. “Thanks,” she smiled. “Buckle up.” She then
quickly sped off into the city road. Nick found himself having to hold on for
dear life as Cindy weaved in and out of the lunch traffic in Los Angeles. “Uhm,
you know…the restaurant isn’t going anywhere. You can take your time.” Nick
hesitated as he briefly held his breath.
Cindy only laughed as she accelerated to go faster. Cindy finally
whipped into the restaurant parking lot, pulling up to the valet parking. She
smiled, “We’re here.” Nick thought to himself, ‘thank God!’. He exited the car
as the valet attendees took Cindy’s car to park.
The hostest to the restaurant seated Nick and Cindy to their table. As she placed their menus in front of them, she stated, “You’re waitress Vivian will be right with you.” She walked away. Cindy smiled as she opened her menu. “Why so quiet boss man?” Nick took off his suit jacket resting it around the back of his chair and smiled, “Im still adjusting to being in one piece after that ride over here.” Cindy laughed. “Sorry, I like to get to where im going in a hurry.” “I can see that.” Nick smirked. Nick’s cell phone rung. “This is Nick,” he answered. The waitress approached their table and took their drink orders as Nick wrapped up his cell phone call. “Red wine and a coke, I will be right back” the waitress said and walked away. “Red wine? Drinking on the job?” Nick asked teasing Cindy. Cindy leaned forward, “I hope you don’t mind, boss man. I can order a sprite or something.” “No, no…its cool. Just don’t get tipsy on me. We still have the rest of the day ahead.” Cindy nodded with a smile as she stared into his eyes. “By the way, its just gonna be you and I. You’re uncle got called in for an emergency meeting.” Nick continued. “Cool. We can just bring him something back. I know what he likes.” Cindy said smiling flirtaciously at Nick.
Nick and Cindy laughed and talked the whole lunch time. They actually enjoyed each other’s company. After eating their lunch they remained seated still talking. Nick suddenly looked down at his watch. “Oh, shit. We’ve been here almost 2 hrs. We should hurry and get back.” Nick started to pull out his wallet to pay for their lunch. “Don’t worry, I will get us back safe and sound.” “Im sure you will.” Nick mumbled as he watched Cindy take the lead walking in front of him.

“Hey Nick, I need you to be available tomorrow nite for a client’s meeting. I wont be able to attend. The wife is riding my ass again.” George said as he poked his head into Nick’s office. “Yes, sir, I got your back.” Nick responded. “Fantastic. I made reservations for you and Cindy. I think she will be a great asset. Im looking forward to hearing good things!” George walked away. Nick smiled as he laid back into his office chair. He felt so honored that his boss had so much confidence in him. Nick was loving his job.
Hours later, Nick rushed home so Selena could get to her study group. He was running late thanks to another meeting that ran over and the rush hour traffic back home. Nick walked into the back door as he placed his briefcase on the kitchen table. Selena heard him come in. She walked into the kitchen holding Nina. “Its about damn time, Nick. You have me running late.” She forced Nina into Nick’s arms as she grabbed her purse. “Sorry, traffic was heavy and I had a meeting that ran over. Why didn’t u just call a sitter?” Selena held out her hand for Nick to hand her the car keys. “You know I don’t want just anybody looking after Nina. Key’s please.” Nick dug into his pocket for the keys as Nina playfully hit Nick in the face as she cooed in his ear. "You could have called my cousin, Dakota, ya know." Nick said as he put the keys into her hand. He then looked at what Selena was wearing.

“That’s what you’re going to wear?” Nick asked. Selena looked down at
her outfit. “What? It’s a sweater dress.” Selena walked passed Nick and opened
the door.
“How long will you be out?”
“I dunno a couple of hours. I’ll be back.” Selena rushed off closing the door behind her.
Nick looked at Nina and kissed her cheeks. “Well, baby girl, it’s just you and me kid. Let’s say we have a party.” He looked at the stove noticing there was nothing cooked or baked waiting for him. He then looked in the refrigerator and saw there was left over hamburger helper. “Left overs and beer it is.” Nick sighed. Nina started talking gibberish as she wiggled in Nick’s arm. “Yes. I know, daddy is not really feeling this either.” He smiled and nuzzled his nose against Nina’s, making her laugh.
